Akuma Motorports Rev3 Intakes: Review
As some may know Akuma Motorports came out with their own version of intakes for the 370z. There’s being a bit different the others.
1. There Pipe Diameter is larger. 2. Single Pipe design 3. All Short sweeping bends as possible 4. MAF located in longest straight pipe of anyone. 5. Requires re-tuning of Fuel Multiplier (UpRev) because of Pipe Diameter Well the original idea was to have a single mandrel bent intake pipe. Well that did not come about due to not getting the Min 8 people for the group buy. So John went ahead and welded mine up and shipped them out to me. !*Akuma Motorports Rev3 Intakes*! Akuma Motorports 370z Intake Price: I got the group by price of $400.00. You cannot beat that. Quality: Your standard aluminum piping. Welds are solid with Zero blow outs on the inside and a CNC’ed MAF flange. A+ on craftsmanship for sure. Fitment: Dead on and sung. I am talking tight and precise. Install: No different than any other long cold air intake. The fact that it is a one piece design from the throttle bodies to the front of the car, you will have to work with it to get the couplers on the throttle bodies and intake piping. I used some soapy water on the couplers to help them slide into place. Driving impressions: After receiving my mortified ROM from John I flashed the car. No issues. It started right up ran like stock. I let it sit and idle for about 15 min while I put the front bumper back on and cleaned up all my tools. So I took her for a quick drive down a not so busy road. My butt dyno was very impressed. It seems to pull harder all the way up to redline. Now keep in mind I old setup was F.I 18 Resonated CBE and Z-1 Post MAF tubs with K&N drop in’s. So I felt a real increase for sure. I will be working on a dyno here soon. But since I no longer have a buddy with a locale shop I really won’t be able to a give a good true comparison (Same Dyno, Same Day). Over all I am Very satisfied with what I feel and the communication I have received from John at Akuma. If you own Uprev Osiris or Osiris Tuner. I don’t feel you can go wrong with these intakes. The lager diameter piping is a plus. I fell once I get a full tune I will be seeing some nice Hp/Tq numbers. Plans are to install test pipes next then get a tune. Give these guys a try. C

Was there anything Nismo specific that you had to do to install these?

i'm pretty sure the filter size isnt affecting the performance of the intakes.

Hey Chad, Thanks for the review! We really appreciate your honest opinion and are looking forward to the dyno numbers.
If anyone has any questions concerning these intakes feel free to shoot me a PM or Give the shop a call at 732-326-0090. P.S. These Filters will not effect performance. They were chosen for 2 reasons, to give the best fitment without affecting airflow. We have installed these on Nismo's as well and the fitment is just the same. |

I noticed a lot of people criticize anything that is not the norm. Hope you sell plenty, unfortunately, I don't need new intakes :P

Could someone use a Dry filter with these as well with a similar shape/size?

I suggest staying away from the filter oil. As long as the filter fits, you can go with another option. There is no issue as long as you stay with a well made filter. AEM Dryflow are very nice and Green also makes good products.
