Nismo OEM Exhaust on Sport AT...HFC's or Intake Next?
Hey guys,
Somewhat of a modding noobie, but I currently have a base sport with the OEM Nismo exhaust installed and am looking for just a bit louder and more power. Would I be more likely to achieve this by going with a CAI ( I currently am running K&N drop in's) or HFC's. Thanks in advance for all the help!

CAI wont do too much if you want raw sound..
It will give you 10-15hp with a tune. 1) If you want sound, then either go the cheap route and delete the resonators from the nismo exhaust. 2) You can add these and gain 8-10hp and some sound. Megan Racing MR-SSDP-N7Z Test Pipes - 370Z - Nissan performance parts 3) You can get HFC's for less HP gains and less sound. For double the price.. Those are my simple cheap suggestions

Since you already have K&N drop ins, the silicone intake tubes would get you pretty close to a CAI in terms of power. And then use that extra money towards HFC/test pipes, which would actually make the exhaust louder, plus a little more power, although at that point, you should also consider a tune.

Thanks for the great feedback gents!
Love the recommendation on the Megan test pipes...these wouldn't have the odor issues would they? Also, I want a bit more sound, but definitely want to avoid having a lot of rasp or sounding ricey.

You know, there are only a handful of people that have purchased the megan racing resontated test pipes..
There is 1 video on youtube, but its too distorted to hear anything. I think that they will be exactly what you want. Clean sound, more hp, without being obnoxious. Since I don't own them, I don't know anything about the smell. I know standard test pipes leave a smell. Dont know about resonated.

I added them at the same time i added drop ins..
Didn't notice a difference to be honest. But then again, i haven't tuned my car yet. The ECU is supposed to recognize changes to the intakes.. The MAF tubes & drop ins have 1-3hp less gain then the Stillen g3's.. I would much rather save the $500 on the G3's and use it for something else. But if you are constantly popping the hood and want to impress people, a bigger intake might be for you.

Some don't want their a$$ magnet having the polar effect when using their vehicle as bait. Idk, I have a HFC to ensure my Wife doesn't complain.

Edub - I'm actually not TOO worried about it, just as my Z is unfortunately now to the point of being a bada$$ daily driver, would prefer as minimal fumes/smell as possible. Push comes to shove, it will at least make people in the know take notice.
Garrett - For the price I paid, I would definitely do it again. All told, with say $150-200 invested into TP's or HFC's, I'm significantly cheaper than going to a full exhaust, while maintaining some semblance of a grown up car, plus manageable noise levels for daily life. As lame as it may sound, I wasn't after max noise or power with my exhaust, just more grunt than stock and free up a few ponies. Just starting to consider that I would like it to be a bit louder than it is.
