It's a non issue unless you fjord rivers with your car. No issues during a wash either.

Best bang for the buck and greatest ease of installation remains a set of smooth tubes (e.g., Cobb) and K&N panel filters (details in the Proven Power Dyno Thread)
http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...ed-comparo.jpg Or, if you can find a set of G3's or a similar design for around $300, go with those, as you'll probably pick up 6-8 more whp. I wouldn't ever run any intakes that have the filters by the wheels, as the AEM one does, especially if you live in an area prone to flooding. I also have a (presently stalled) intake project underway with Swift Racing that will utilize CNC'd bell mouths to improve flow, but no idea when those will be made. |
My friend bought his stillen gen 3 for his g37 here Stillen GEN3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit Nissan 370Z Z34 . its 509.00 with free shipping.

MAF tubes help, but it isn't very beneficial by themselves. Adding them to K&N drop ins, the pair seems to be greater than the sum of their parts. Though as you can see from the graph Jordo posted, there is still some restriction at high rpm and the intakes are primarily the reason why the gains plateau. Keep in mind this is only in the last 1,000rpm of the power band. CAI's will not plateau until just before redline, but it's not a restriction of the intakes at that point.

Oh ok cool thanx for the info. Im sitting on the fence right now between cai or just keeping my drop ins and getting post maf tubes.

If you are on a tight budget and can only pick one, I'd say go for the panel filters alone. Although you will gain a good bit more with the G3's, for me the price difference just isn't justified -- more than twice as much for 6-8 more whp and the hassle of removing the bumper. If you can find a set used ($300ish ball park) I'd say its worth it, but only then. I'm going to see about the delay in the Swift racing intake and see if I can get that moving again -- details here http://www.the370z.com/mid-atlantic-...-test-car.html If I can get that moving again -- I think that would be the best of all worlds. Calling Swift to express interest certainly couldn't hurt... :p |
