Anyone have an exhaust cutout controlled?
Just curious if anyone had an aftermarket exhaust with a cutout somewhere in the system? I work for Porsche and a few of my clients have a Capristo exhaust, which is just the best sounding exhaust anywhere on the planet.. mind boggling. You can turn the exhaust on or off by a keychain clicker. You can even control when it comes on! It has four seetings. Off (regular exhaust) Full On, On only when you floor it and on only when you reach say 5,000 rpms. This is also a $6,000 plus exhaust setup.. really goes from quiet to ULTRA LOUD.
Not sure I wan tthis or not on a car like this. I dont need it to be electronicly controlled, could me mechanical. I was just wondering if anyone had something like this and how it would sound with the VQ. I think I migth call Tony in the AM and see how he feels about it. I'm not even sure where in the exhasut it would go to really open it up and just be absurdly loud  |

I have thought about doing that when i turbo the car. I would only open it up when i go to the strip and keep it closed, and let whatever the exhaust i have on it, do its job.

Maybe you should buy the mustang pal, you have the attitude for one. |
So Chemy, I see the novelty behind this but what is the technical advantage of being able to make these changes?

Just for fun, I love the sound of all cars... Not all mods need to be for power gains or handling :yum:

Buddy off mine has an '01 vette with an exhaust and E-cutout. Let me tell you. The sound of it when open is pure sex and sounds like it woke up a beast.
Problem is most cars with this are te domestic crowds and only other import I've seen it done to was a Subaru/STI. It's be interested to hear a Z with a cutout. I'd like to hear one right after the long tubes. That would be something to hear :-) |

Back to Porsche's options, there is a flashing light option that they have where the third light flashes and is sensitive to the pressure applied on the brakes. Flashes quickly when immediate and heavy pressure is applied. I also heard somewhere that Porsche is 'copying' the SRM concept and coming up with their own version of synchro rev match. |
I think this is a great idea! My friend has cutouts on his titanium meisterschaft for his E60 M5 and that V10 sounds amazing when its open

ya only mustang drivers use active exhaust cutouts or baffles. except for porsche... corvette.... ferrari... jag... BMW...oh, and NOT ford..... the years of exhaust cutouts being redneck are long gone my friend. they are now referred to as active exhausts, and widely accepted in the performance car world |

I could also suggest you have more of an open mind, no? Appearently you think they only belong on a Mustang?? Where is your open mind?? |
