Personally so far i have not had any problems and here in Aus our roads truly are CRAP. Also we have a lot of speed humps and I haven't had any issues yet. The best way i have found listening to videos is streaming the Youtube videos through my PS3 via my HT set up. Even then, it still dosnt give it justice. Although you do get a VERY good idea of what the sound will be like.

If they have used a tapered design, it would appear to give them a good inch or more of ground clearance. |

You are right, your question has not been answered until now. We actually never thought of it until you asked. It would require a new design along with alot of R&D! I have no idea what it would do to the sound or tone until we tried it. I can tell you that the design is doable but not easy and it would increase to cost. At the end of the day it would just be easier much more cost effective to shorten the mufflers by a few inches to increase ground clearance. However, it will increase the sound level and that I feel would kill the deal for alot of people.

Has anyone run the stock exhaust with the muffler delete and then purchased the FI catback?
Im curious at the volume level difference. I don't want anything quieter than what I have now, so im not sure which resonator option I should get.

I mean, it's fairly simple geometry (and not the whole exhaust) - either using shorter mufflers like you said, or, using a more tapered design (like using a 45 off where it mounts currently until it meets up with the end of a shorter muffler, or heck, even lopping off the lowest portion to the ground and creating a bit of a flat spot there, filling it with a triangular piece. The added benefit would open the door for people looking to lower their Z (or G?), can still buy your exhaust, as well as people who have road issues. I don't think it'd change the sound (or gains) much, but then again, I don't design exhausts. Last edited by kannibul; 09-30-2009 at 01:02 PM. |
