To All-

To catch everyone up and make a few points.

- We have been using this designed X Pipe for almost 10 years. Most commonly in our Z32 300ZX TT exhaust and Audi S4 systems! We have found it to make more torque and power while reducing interior noise resonance.

- The X Pipe will be available in three options:
1) Straight through: For the one who wants it on the louder side.
2) 12" Resonators: Pictured in the prototype
3) 18" Resonators: My recommendation if you plan on replacing the stock cats!

- In addition, this exhaust will also be available with Carbon Fiber mufflers!!!

Pricing along with the sale will soon follow. I will most likely get to the dyno one night later this week. We are taking pre orders effective immediatly!!!

Thanks, Tony

Maybe down the road for the tips in 4" the tips you see are 4.5" !

The mufflers will only be available in Polished Stainless Steel & Carbon Fiber.

When I dyno the exhaust towards the end of this week I will weigh it. I am very confident that the TDX weighs less thean the stock exhaust.

I will also be posting a video from our dyno session.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Can't wait to see the results of the dyno and the weight.

WOOOOOOO! THAT'S MY WHIP Hahaha! I see you guys took my advice when I said to beat the sh!t out of it so we can see what this exhaust really sounds like. (Good work on getting passed that rev limiter while the car is standing still..haha.) Tony, thank you so much for creating this amazing art piece of an exhaust and making it available to the Z34 community, not because it's my car or anything but I don't think any other exhaust out there sounds this clean with NO rasp. BTW I haven't seen my car since last Thursday guys, so looking forward to the madd rep points for giving up my car for the creation of yet another brilliant piece from Fast Intentions. :happydance:

Great sound, the best so far! Carbon fiber option....even better!

So the 12" resonators is the version on the car in the video right? How long would you say till the 4" tip version would be available, 4.5" is getting a little big for my taste!

Sonic370Z 07-06-2009 06:01 AM

Damn, Tony. Sounds amazing man. Even better than I though it would. Looks and sounds even sexier than it did on my previous Intimidator system. Very exotic sounding. I'm sold. ;)

Ready to buy, and can send money today. :D What's the approximate build/ship time right now? I am wanting the all polished SS version. I am split on the resonator size though (12 or 18). I have a set of HFC's in my garage (uninstalled), but your video sounded SO good I almost don't want to spoil that exotic sound that you guys at FI have created, lol.

Anyhow, great job. Hope to hear from you soon! :D

miguez 07-06-2009 06:19 AM

First off, props to the first exhaust manufacturer in here (AFAIK) to produce such an extensive video to include startup, idle and revving from all angles (walked around the car), takeoff, zero to fast from the back and the front, internal sound in different conditions, even naming off speed and RPM to evaluate drone. Very good video that other manufacturers should be watching to learn what people are interested in before buying an exhaust.

Tony, I took a look at Fast Intention's website, and was impressed at the high-quality TIG welds in some of your exhaust, like the Lambo's.

Finally, it's very interesting how sound is something completely personal. I am tired of reading 370Z reviews where the author complains about the VQ's sound at high revs. Granted, the one in the video is helped by a great exhaust, but even with the car approaching you on a fast pass, to me, it sounds great!

Tony, do we have any pricing info yet, including the different options you mentioned? I will be standing by for the dyno and weight info.

FuszNissan 07-06-2009 06:29 AM

Wow, sounds and looks so nice. Definitely getting a set!

SargeZ33 07-06-2009 06:36 AM

Incredible work guys. Sounds and looks awesome.

phelan 07-06-2009 10:46 AM

lmao at the censored jay-z in that video.

but dear LORD, that is a great sounding exhaust. a little more info on weight and pricing for the diff options, and i'm completely sold. great work!

nogoodname 07-06-2009 10:47 AM

those were the stainless rounds??....any chance of CF rounds??

kannibul 07-06-2009 11:16 AM

Looking in the video, looks like there's not a whole heck of a lot of ground clearance on the back end of the mufflers. How much room is there? Some people here lowered their Z, and it might be more of an issue.

nogoodname 07-06-2009 11:18 AM

^^ it's an issue if you plan of slamming into speed bumps.

many lowered G37s have this system and barely any scratches.

Here in Oklahoma, speed bumps and potholes breed like rabbits...

They grow pretty fast too...

Sonic370Z 07-06-2009 12:20 PM

I've listened to the sound clips 5 times already. Mmmmmm. :driving:

I actually said the same thing. I'm not sure what to think about about it. I'm hoping its just the camera angle.

Maybe this is why Berk mentioned that an angled setup won't work with these cars. Maybe the ground clearance is too small?

grows quicker here, spreads like wild fire !!

that's why you go for the stainless rounds instead of the CF if lowered

Ground clearance is not an issue. My design for the G37 has been out for over a year and they are lower!

I will have to get an exact measurement but they are over 6 inches off of the ground.

As far as the Berk comment, I will just laugh at that :icon18:we have seemed to figure it out!!!

Update-

The weight of the stock cat back is 57 LBS.

The weight of our Stainless Steel version W/12" resonators is 47 LBS.
(10 LBS lighter)

The weight of our Carbon Fiber muffler version w/12" resonators is 41LBS.
(16 LBS. lighter)

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info. It would also be helpful to have your assessment on how low the lowest part of your exhaust is in relation to existing structures in the car, meaning if you could tell us "It's X.X" higher than the bottom of the differential" or something of that sort, it would really help!

Thanks again, great thread and product.

Must be the camera angle then - I noticed when the car took off, there were some dips towards the end of the run, it looked like if there was a stiff enough bump they'd scrape.

If it's 6", I can't imagine that much suspension travel...assuming stock ride height/stock suspension.

shabarivas 07-06-2009 12:53 PM

Ok so any idea if this will actually be legal in cali? I would hate to buy this and have to sell it cus some cop thinks its too loud ... specifically - is there an EO number?

The lowest point is the bottom of the mufflers. As far as everything in front of that, it is high enoguh to not see if you were looking under the car from the side. In relation to our old Intimidator with the Magnaflow style X Pipe canister, this one is miles higher.

As far as I know, any changes from the OEM exhaust is not legal in California.

How much lower does it sit compared to any part of the OEM exhaust?

Or, better question, how much lower does it sit compared to the bottom of the car (body)?

Is it lower than the chin spoiler?

California has a loop hole. One law states an exhaust system needs to be under a certain DB level. Another law states you may not modify exhaust at all.

Most cops will leave you alone and it all depends on how you are acting with your car. Remember there is a time and place for everything.

But to answer your question, no there is no CARB EO number...

Tony

Also, I'm unsure if it's appropriate to ask, or if someone already has, but what's the spread on pricing / options?

PM me if inappropriate...

Sweet sounding exhaust! But I still like the sound of the SACLAM exhaust the best.

Thanks Tony. What I meant was how low/high it was in relation to something that was already in the car, so someone without this exhaust can go to the garage and check to see where your exhaust would be.

That sounds awesome! But I think it's a lot louder than most would want their exhaust to be.

Is there even an "exhaust" there? Sounds about like what you'd hear with the cats removed, and nothing else hooked up - lol...
