Best sounding intake?

I did many searches and found nothing specifically for sound..

I was about to go with GIII and decided I did not want to modify my car. I realize I might lose a few HP if I go a different direction than with the gIII's. At this point, I am thinking most of the other higher end intakes will give similiar gains. So now I am thinking which will give me the best sound?

I currently have a 2012 Nismo with FI HFC's and CBE on order. In combination with an intake, there is not much else performance wise I will do, unless I go FI down the road..

I would prefer a deeper sound as I know most will offer... just curious which one will give the most??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The best intakes for our cars are R2C and Gen3's for gains. Gen3's...man, EVERYone frowns on the install and "modding" your car, but you barely dremmel anything out....maybe a quarter inch at most and you don't even see it. Its just where the air flows into the engine bay.

I loved my Gen3's. The most gains and very deep sounding.
The R2Cs I've heard in person as well which are a bit louder being a warm air intake and so exposed.

I agree with above. The gen 3's dropped the tone noticeably, even before my CBE. I would imagine, however, that most "long tube intakes" will sound the same takeda etc... As for short ram, if power is not your goal (*GASP*) then I would look into the typhoon or Takeada's, my freind had a short ram on his 350 and it made the "hiss" much more noiceable and the overall sound a bit deeper. But the throaty growl from the gen3's when you punch it around 5k rpm is awesome and unmatched  I would go that route if I were you

Thanks for the notes. I tend to go through cars as this is my 3rd z in 6 years with a number of other cars mixed in... I am keeping everything I change out stock so I can switch back when I sell, if ever. I love this car!

That being said I am a bit nervous to drill it out for fear of later... That's all. Maybe I will just need to do it!

Im also interested in GIII's, I'm looking forward to improved sound and hp but I'm not sure what sound they are talking about. I didn't know intakes made a sound, other than a possible sucking noise?

Even after dremeling out the small amt, there are two plastic pieces that fit down inbetween yoru actual filter and the area. Nothing is affected at all. Its just opening the air flow a bit more to your OEM intake box.

I just completely returned my G37s back to stock to sell it. Even taking it into the dealers to get appraised, there's literally zero chance of seeing this area dremeled since its on the opposit side of the OEM intake box.

I would give the Takeda AFE long tubes CAI a serious look. I have them on and tested them on a 140mi trip, 60 of them cruising with GTR. I was very impressed with the power gain across all the bands and the intake sound over 4.5K. Great build and NO CUTTING! Great finish as well.

I have K&N Typhoons with Megan test pipes. Much better sound over stock.

Akuma Rev3's are up there with Gen3s for gains but i haven't heard the intake yet so tone is up in the air.

What is an intake supposed to sound like? I have the takeda CAI and it just sounds like a humming of air going through aluminum tubes.
