I am suspecting that heat shield on the Y pipe hitting somewhere and I need to fix this right away tomorrow morning so I need to get the answer soon as possible :( Anyone has any idea??!! Please help! Thank You!:tiphat:

Sounds like heat shielding to me. When it rattles like that, the heat shield is probably rattling against itself, so it might be difficult to fix, since iirc they're seam welded on.

I knew it :( I hate that heat shield...should I remove it??

are they really welded together?? I thought they are either bolted together or held together by hose clamps...:(

make sure it's not the emission cannister heat shield in the rear

My friend's forester has the same problem, completely bone stock, header headshields. Since they were seam welded, what we decided to do was lightly tap some of the sections with a ball peen hammer to bend them JUST a little. It makes a lot better, and we're thinking about giving it another love tap to see if we can't silence it. You could always remove the heatshielding but it does more than shield other parts, it keeps the exhaust nice and hot for exhaust scavenging.

I'm gonna say you won't take a hammer to it (I wouldn't do it to my car), but it might be worth trying to take it to a dealer. They might do a little something for nothing out of pocket.

Mine was chirping really bad and the dealer is going to replace my h pipes on the Nismo under warrenty.

Is your car still under warrenty - I would make Nissan fix it.
