fast intentions exhaust with test pipes or hfc?

which one should i get??

it depends on what your looking for, are you looking for just sound or power? They each have their ups and downs and will sound slightly different

if you pair a fast intentions exhaust with some high flow cats, it'll probably make it louder but it will not give as good of gains as if you add some test pipes. Test pipes will also make it louder but you'll get some better gains than high flow cats, you also have the option to go resonated or non resonated with the test pipes. you also have to worry about check engine lights with test pipes unless you get tuned but there are people out there who dont have tunes, have test pipes and havent thrown and CEL's. i didnt feel like dealing with that so i tuned my car.

I cant confirm cuz i didnt look too far into this but another option is long tube headers and i have heard you get decent gains from long tube headers as well, it will definately be louder just like the test pipes, maybe even louder than test pipes but like i said, i never really looked into them.

others will chime in shortly. Im hoping to get my car re dyno'ed so i can see my new numbers with my ART pipes and FI TDX CF CBE, personally i love the sound i have and the power is more than enough for me for now.

Go with Long Tube Headers!!! I am very happy I went that route instead of Tests or HFCs. I spent countless hours looking into it. I did not throw any CELs once they were installed all we did was extend the O2 sensors. I havent been dyno'd yet but I felt immense top end gains after the install. The sound is also intoxicating at 4k rpms it literally is about 1.5 times louder at that range. I constantly find myself shifting at 4k rpms just to hear the exhaust scream.

Long tubes will be a bjtch to install if you do yourself, or be prepared to pay $800 for someone to do it for you. Demon bolts are a PITA with TP's and HFC's, but still easier and cheaper than LTH's. Long tubes definitely have a higher racier pitch than the others. At low to mid RPM, you can really hear the exhaust scavenging from the headers on decel and sometimes shifts.

He has a point. They are rough to install yourself. Took us 7 hours. Not bad for never doing it before though. If you have a newer Z demon bolts aren't too bad. I had 6k miles on mine and they came right off. Maybe I had a lucky egg though. The FI on decel sounds great as long as driven correctly. There is only a brief 1 second hiss on decel below 3000 rpms. Sounds like a turbo though. Mine doesn't drone either except between 2700-3000rpms but if you leave your foot on the peddle lightly just so there is some airflow the drone and hiss go away. Drone and hiss are subjective to driving style.

i want the most gain and some noise so headers right?

MyKindaGuise 08-27-2012 11:04 AM

Headers will accomplish that for sure as long as you don't mind spending a lot for the install or getting down and dirty for doing it yourself. Also the headers are louder But to me not loud enough. I daily my car right now and even with the windows up it sounds good. But the Ark is resonated so if you have a straight tdx it will be a great deal louder.

ill also get a check engine light with headers?

MyKindaGuise 08-27-2012 10:30 PM

It depends. All I had to do was extend my o2 sensors and I was check engine light free. I'm sure there are threads on here on how to do it. I also recall that FI markets these as being CEL free. Send Tony from FI a message here on the forum he is kickass

henryy370z 08-27-2012 10:47 PM

ok thanks does it sound nice thought? like a pop

MyKindaGuise 08-27-2012 10:52 PM

Dude when you hit 4000revs it is retarded awesome. I mean with the ark exhaust it is a little higher pitched and sounds more track car like but I have heard full FI setups and they sounds amazing too. If I can I'll try and get a quick video of mine with my DSLR tomorrow.

henryy370z 08-27-2012 11:08 PM

dude that will be awesome let me know im very interested to hear this lol
