K&N typhoon intake
What's up guys. I know a lot of people are going with the G3's and INJEN but I wanted to make a quick post on the K&N typhoon intake for those who might not have an extra $500 layin around like I didn't. Anyway the typhoon is def louder than stock and I haven't noticed any HP gains or throttle difference yet cause I just put them on and reset the ECU so it should take a little time. Here's a link to a video I made with the typhoon. (the first song in the video is my band, so if you like that type of music lemme know n I can send u some song ; )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er1Vb...e_gdata_player Intake so far is worth the $300 or so. Hope this helps out if someone was considering getting it or not getting it. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345740589.958493.jpg

Good job on the video... I'm sort of leaning towards the K&N myself. No so much because of money. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of removing the bumper to clean filters. My work space is pretty limited at home so that's tough to do.
Anywho, looks and sounds great! Thanks for the video! |

Nice sound (Band and Intake!)
That's awesome, send me some songs from your band (PM me for the email). Also, 1) Any noticeable sound different when WOT? 2) When you bought them, do you have to buy 2 or they come in pairs? Price? |

To answer your question not to take the fun away from OP
Yes it comes in pairs and the price is a little less than $300. I had mine for almost 2 years and it does make the engine bay look nice and meaner! My only gripes about it is the short tubes does get too hot due to heat soak but made some remedy and made a huge difference! I wrapped the tubes with thermal shields to protect it from the heat generated by the engine. Somehow i believe it made the air a lot cooler because now i can touch the tubes and its just a little warm, unlike before you could easily scald your hands when you touch it. |

No i haven't as i do not have the gadget to accurately test it. So Im only basing my assumptions that it made a difference through drive feel and sensory inputs.
To be honest I know the OE box with drop ins is the Best thing to do in terms of getting few hp gains. Other than of course going towards gen3 but I hate the hustle as mentioned over here. I like visual aesthetics so much that is why i went towards the typhoon! I like seeing the air filters and provide the aura of "Oh its a race car" to some extent to people who really don't know or care much about performance cars mostly my kids! Haha Besides my Z is not my DD its my prozac/jack daniels on weekends only. I usually drive it early morning on Sunday or late night when the air is cooler. With this ram air the car feels sluggish and rough on a stop and go traffic. I rarely drive it in the afternoon sun unless Im going to see a car show somewhere or watch the races and the girls in Daytona...btw Im not a NASCAR fan! Haha |

Does it really decrease performance (sluggish) with the K&N typhoon intake?

Well yes because of the heat soack inside the engine bay like when your only in slow heavy traffic the ECU resets its timining because of the hot air to prevent unwanted detonation in the engine. But once you get going and let the cool air cool of your engine then its back to its normal bad *** performnce again.
To help with cooling the short ram tubes this is what I have done, some how it did help its not as sluggish when I did this simple remedy. image.jpg . Last edited by Zoren 370; 07-08-2014 at 12:48 AM. |

I bought it at autozone i think the name is thermal shield wrap its less than $20 per roll. I only used one!
Don't let it scare you if your wanting to get this intake the engine knows how to protect itself. But if you want true performance gains go with drop in filters or Gen 3 intakes! The OE air box is the best design for the engine. |

Awesome, I will do this mod, I don't want to mess with the bumper and making the wholes bigger and stuff. Thanks for the suggestion!
