I thought I posted on this thread earlier..anyways, I have the AAM's on my car. Everything is stock except that & some interior things.
I can tell you that for 250 bucks, the AAM's make the car sound like a true 3.7 v6. Not to mention the cold start roars. If you drive an automatic like me, then driving in "D" will keep you under 3200rpm and you will just hear more of a purr. When you want to hear the car scream, i throw it in manual and take it to redline to hear it. Let me warn you that if your ears are sensitive then there will be drone going up a hill doing 50 mph.. & if you have the stock speakers you are going to want to replace them, you'll need louder ones! I have heard almost all other exhausts on youtube and some in person, and for the money- i think it sounds just as good, if not better, then some of the more favored exhausts on the forum. Find one on here for sale, i just saw one for $300 shipped. Easy install. GTHAUS Meisterschaft GTS Nissan 370Z exhaust sound - YouTube Now i think thats loud. AAM shouldn't be "obnoxious" |

Wouldn't a muffler delete like the AAM short tails actually cause a loss in power?? I believe this would reduce torque since you lose backpressure. I thought about getting these at one point but don't want to spend $400 on something that's gonna make my car slower. If you do the washer mod wouldn't you technically be achieving the same thing at a cheaper price?
The 18 lbs that you reduce with the short tails is not a big deal because that weight is at the lowest point on the car, over the rear wheels, and technically the more weight in that area the better the traction. |

Since OP brought up washer mod, I would just add removal of your air filters plus the 50 cent washer. This will equal to what you want to spent to achieve the note of a $400 exhaust. You can also release some air out of your tire to have the lowering spring effect too..

Thanks for all the info on the exhaust system guys. sorry to come off like a complete DA on the exhaust. just won't to make sure and do the right thing
since it's one purchase you make that can mess up your week if you go in the wrong direction. should have explained myself better. i just wanted to add a little extra exhaust note. since the 370 is quite compared to the 350 i had. trying to add hp is not a concern. |

I heard bad things about the washer mod. Sounds like you should get the short tails.. one just sold yesterday for $250..
AAM Short Tail Exhaust - YouTube Also, this is the comparison to another cheap exhuast setup.. gains +27hp and has a great sound.. This tread is pretty funny. One suggestiong to get test pipes and no muffler... LOL, that'd be a little too much!
My favorite quote from a cop after being pulled over... "did you think I wouldn't hear you?" Pumped 350, hooker supercompetition headers, dual 2-1/2" pipes w. single chamber flowmasters. Now that was an exhaust note!

One question if you don't mind i'm new at this exhaust stuff on the site it said it required the removal of the emissions canister shield. what is that and will it make a difference in performance of the car. and will i have to re code anything to do with the car's computer. sorry to bother you... |

it comes off with 3 bolts and nuts. It's just a piece of metal. nothing will change in the car. Reason is the short tails hits the metal and won't let it fit right.
