Khoi, can we get an ETA on the mid pipe? Also has the short tails been dyno tested? Is there an increase in whp other than just sound? How much WHP was gained with everything else stock and just the short tails?

Also, check PM:tup:

4whp increase i believe. That was without a tune.. i think we lose -1 tq or something like that

Do you have that as your DD?

Anyone have a (quality) video with the short tails and resonated test pipes?!

I saw one on youtube but he put the camera directly in front of the tips, so it was all distorted.

Not yet. What did you have in mind? I have a gopro hd2 I can put on the car. Just let me know placement preference and I'll go make a vid.

Edit: this is not my DD

GoPro mounted to the back window facing towards the windshield is a great shot and sounds perfect. Under the car is a little too distorted.

But my GoPro sounds perfect in my car

I was under the impression that the short tails have no factory supported dyno charts/power loss/gain, i.e. that AAM did not specifically dyno their 370Z to find numbers.

If anything I would suppose that there would be some mild horsepower gain and mild torque loss, but not anything more or less than 2 each.

That gain is so small that I would not count it as being statistically significant...

I agree with Phil, a difference in a couple whp is probably just the dyno reading inconsistently

Currently there is no ETA on this midpipe guys, sorry I know I know.. I'm doing my best to push it but this month has our production team slammed

WOAH. Cranks the short tails up from a 6/10. To a 9/10 as far as sound.

Crazy

I'd like to hear resonated TP's w/ the short tails. I've still got that really annoying "rattlesnake" rasp around 2-3k when the car is cold. That might be a characteristic of all TP's though.

I heard good things about the resonated test pipes..

I think I would be one of the first to do that combo..

heres another video with non resonated test pipes

It doesn't really sound that bad at wide open throttle. You can tell there's a little rasp, but it doesn't sound anywhere near like marbles in a can, tinny / metallic.

Resonated test pipes will deepen the tone and remove a little rasp, but probably not all of it.

Getting my custom Hpipe made tomorrow. I will post sound clips as well! :driving:

I went for an xpipe instead and i am very happy with the results. The car is significantly quicker in all gears.

370Z Nismo Custom X Pipe And Resonator Delete - YouTube

lumpy looking pipes and horrible welds in that pic.... best of luck with it.

i remember a thread about a company going back and forth with X/H pipe configurations and found the X to make the most rasp. when i have time ill search for it.
