Should I sell my HKS???
I have had my HKS Hi power exhaust for a year now, and I think I want something a little bit louder. I added some Berk HFCs for about a month, and then took them off because I hated the way it sounded WOT... I thought it made it sound too cheap. Don't get me wrong the way it sounded when just cruising was like heaven. Now that I took it off the Berks the HKS is just too quiet by itself.
Would maybe a different set of HFCs sound different or should I just go with the Fast Intentions exhaust that everyone seems to like on this forum? Let me know what you think. |

Hm, this worries me. I have an HKS Hi-Power installed just by itself at the moment, but I have some HFC's that are going to be put in soon. Was the tone too quiet or not deep enough or something? I personally think the HKS is a tad too quiet by itself, but I was hoping HFC's was gonna be perfect. If not, Test Pipes are the next option.

I will search later to see if I can find a video of what my car was doing to see if anyone else had the same problem. For now off to work. |
Corbin your car sounds awesome from what I can hear. Do you have any launch videos of your exhaust? I would love to hear that, than maybe I can sell my HFCs and get some ART pipes

maybe you have a leak?

Perhaps the Berk's were not "burnt in" enough yet... I have the HKS and Berks and absolutely love the sound! There is of course the Hiss, but I don't know of any combo that eliminates that, other than to trade hiss for rasp in test pipes or resonated test pipes. The pure roar of the HKS with Berk's at WOT is awesome and I get compliments from (non-ricer) tuners all the time. Pair that roar with the beautiful rumble of cruising speed with no drone, and it's win-win. I don't drive WOT all the time, but the few hard starts an high revving shifts I do sound awesome. People can't believe how quiet it gets at cruise speed which makes it liveable for long cruises of 8 - 10 hours (which I do every year for vacation...).
Put the Berk's back on, burn them in, then decide. If you really want 'noise' go Meisterschaft..... |
Keep it and add LTH's you wont be dissapointed.

You guys should make some exhaust videos! I noticed there is a huge lack of HKS exhaust videos on youtube. I'll be filming my exhaust video soon, just the HKS cat back.

I have three on Youtube, quality isnt that great but if you have a decent sound system you will get the picture :)

try getting ark hfcs
I have them paired with the Ark type 2, no drone, no rasp, at wot. And no hiss. I heard members complaining that their Ark exhaust paired with berk's hfc didn't sound to nice as well. |
I would keep the HKS but if you're over it go with Fast Intentions instead
|
Okay so the plan is to keep them on the car until they burn in.
How long is the burn in period 1 month? I am also going to re-install them tomorrow after work and make sure there are no leaks. I am gonna post a video before and after so people who have the same setup can verify it sounds like it is supposed to. Thanks for all your help guys and tune in tomorrow for those videos. |

Here is HKS + HFC (not Berk), cold start and a short in-car driving.

I can't freaking wait to exorcise my car of demon bolts and get my cats installed. What a difference from just the HKS to HKS+HFC. :happydance: |
fast intentions is not gonna be so much louder then HKS to me there would be no point in the switch. Get Motordyne exhaust
|
Sorry no videos today from me. Ended up working a double. I am gonna try to intstall them tomorrow and take some videos. The forecast is for thunderstorms though.
