That was your problem, not the K&N....

Awesome job on doing that test. 4 runs on each should leave no doubt that the filters do improve performance.

Just out of curiosity, how many miles or how dirty were the stock air filters used in this test? I assume you got the K&Ns brand new?

Drisko,
Good question, the stock filters were actually in good shape (besides a couple of bugs....). And yes, the K&N's were out of the box brand new!
ps. After 9k they still run fine and no issues with MAF...

Went ahead and ordered a pair off of EBay. Price was around $104 after 8% Bing cashback. Since I have no plans on getting an aftermarket intake, this is an easy way to improve over stock filters.

That is what I'm thinking, but let me see if I can get them cheaper. ;)

If you can install separately the filters and the Cobb tubes, let us known if you "fell" any gains with the MAF tubes once you are getting use to the filters.
Nice combination mods btw.

Will do. Car is still in winter storage. Will put it back on the street in a week or so. I did the installs, reset the ECU and started it up. Car also has Berk HFC's and Stillen CBE.

Give us a chance to beat any price.. Just send a PM..

Although would love to see the step to Gen 3's.. we get comments every day about how happy people have been with the installs..

Can't convince the financial manager to provide the funds to modify the Z. I can lable the K&N as replacement filters and she will be none the wiser.
:happydance:
Oh and by financial manager I mean wife.

K&N Consumer Protection Pledge

There's a ton of info here.. including testing

All that Guy had to do is go to Walmart and buy a $2.00 can of circuit board cleaner aerosol . THEN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. Then spray the MAF sensor area. The oil comes right off because the spray contains carbon tetrachloride. Then let it all set for about a half hour. Reconnect battery and just start the car and let it idle for several minutes.

Just bought these on sale at 370source. I put them in last night and I am VERY pleased. The sound changed a bit and brought out the grunt in the motor and matched the sound of the FI exhaust perfectly IMO. I can better hear the motor now. Only other difference able to be felt/observed is the freeing up of the high RPMs. Where the car would only agree to go smoothly to about 7k, it now freely revs to redline without hesitance. Good buy for $80 bucks.

What do you all think about the HKS drop in filter???
