pros and cons to a used exhaust

Are there any pros/cons to buying a used exhaust as to buying a brand new one? does the sound change due to mileage, not work correctly? etc..

the resonator/mufflers will eventually need to be replaced. These things will break at some point in time and cause rasp, rattles, etc.

Pros
You get an MXP exhaust from me
I get rid of my old exhaust to make room for my new one
Burnt tips are awesome and it sounds great

Cons
You have to wait till my fast intentions come in at the end of July

But seriously, better price is the biggest pro.

Con is the above statement - but on better quality exhausts you shouldn't have to worry bout this for a long time

At the point that the resonators and muffler break, you'll likely find yourself six years older.

Plus, you can always just cut off the resonators and drive a race car.

Most exhausts being sold on here havn't been used for that many miles, so the con isn't really a con.

Seriously, there are so many low mileage exhaust on the cheap on this site, I wouldn't ever consider buying a new one. I got my entire meistershaft cat back for 1600 bucks, which is WAY under retail. Only had like 2k miles on it. That's nothing for the life of a quality exhaust.

IMO everyone should seriously consider buying a used exhaust off this site. Chances are, if it's a rip off people will have already said something in the thread.

Agreed with the above statements. It will be several years before you may have to replace anything on a used exhaust if at all. I bought a used Berk exhaust for like half of what it retails for and haven't had any issues with it in the past year since I bought it.

Also depends on the brand you go with. Better quality and Service = greater longevity of the product

you can get a great price on a used exhaust. another con though is that it won't be as shiny as if it were new. if you polish it up a little bit it'll look almost like it...

I got my exhaust used, and never looked back.

Sure, it had a few tiny, tiny blemishes, but then again, what exhaust won't in just a few miles? It only stays brand new until you move your car off the jack stands. If you see a clean looking exhaust for sale used, don't hesitate!
