So the 12" is muffled more then non-res and 18" is even more?
So would it be wrong to say that at idle the 12" and 18" block most noise and when you step on the gas harder you can hear both but the 12" would be louder? Or am I completely off? |

No your on the right track of things but 12" isn't any comparison to Non resonated. I'm assuming 12" is a little loud deep growl by what I've seen on Youtube. Check out some vids there's a bunch of em now or maybe someone from here with a 12" res' d might chime in here, Good luck with decisions

Basically yes. 18 inch resonantors cut down the noise the most, 12 inch cut down a little less and non res doesnt cut anything. That being said I have 18 inch resonators and its definitely not "quiet". At least by my standards. I have k&n drop ins too so maybe that adds a little extra noise. When you get on it hard, regardless of whether you have resonators or not you and everyone around you will hear it

The resonators are really to break up the harmonic resonance of the pipes to help with 'drone' and to muffle the high-frequency "buzz" or "rasp" that comes from the high pressure exhaust pulses these cars generate. Without the resonators, you'll have a lot of low frequency "drone" at part throttle and you'll be able to hear the high pitched "rasp" at large throttle openings.

Agreed I have 18" w/ CF cans and I wouldn't call it quiet. It's a deep sounding exhaust; I love driving to 4k and higher.

Once I put the long tube headers on however... Now it's borderline racecar sounding, with some drone between 2250-2500rpm. Still no rasp though. To be clear, I think of rasp as that high pitched sound when a civic hatchback with a giant fartcan revs their motor at you trying to get you to race lol. I can't remember if I've posted this video in here, but this was taken with my camera at Zdayz in may. You can see all my mods in my sig. I survived Zdayz 2013... (barely)

It may be that with your full interior + other noise etc that you just can't really hear it. You definitely can in my car. |

well too you have the PPE headers and you're SS, both of those things may make some difference, idk.

I've had my F.I. Exhaust installed as of this month for 3 years and 50k+ miles. Still loving every minute of it.
