^was the non res too loud? I'm on the fence about resonated cbe vs non. I will be sticking with stock cats and just drop in filters.

Looks like resonated is quiet. I can deal with minor drone.

I'm thinking about switching to non resonated before it ships.

Any input guys/girls?

I never had the non-resonated installed so I can't speak too much to how loud it is but from what Tony told me, it primarily effects cabin noise. It's not going to make a dramatic difference in how loud it is outside of the car.

My long term plan is to go with resonated HFCs and a Stillen G3 so I felt like the non-resonated exhaust would just be too much for me. They sound awesome in the videos I've seen but the over-the-top drone with my target setup and a non-resonated FI would probably start to annoy me after a while.

^Really? Sound is sound. How can you make it quieter in the cabin without making it quieter(is this a word?) on the outside(what ppl hear).

Why is Kaizen going non resonated? I am assuming he want more roar on the outside.

If you've ever heard an exhaust that has a bad drone inside the cabin, you'd know that resonators can make a dramatic difference in how loud it is inside. That's why they're basically right under the center console of the car. That doesn't always translate into a huge difference in how loud it is when it comes out of the tail pipe.

From the Fast Intentions website:

Quote:
The resonators are strictly noise canceling devices. They DO NOT hinder performance at all. They are primarily designed to cut down interior noise resonance AKA "Drone"! The longer the resonator, the quieter the interior noise.

Non res is a lot of roar outside lol my friend who lives about 1/2 to 3/4 mile away from me hears me start up and leave my house from his house.

My resonated rattles the inside of my fireplace when I start the car in the morning. It wakes my GF up when I start it every morning and she's on the other side of the house.

So if the resonated and non res sound the same on the outside, why would anyone want drone on the inside?

The other side of the house vs 1/2 mile down the road is a big difference.

Am i missing something?

Well, I didn't say it sounded the same. I said "there isn't a dramatic difference". Some people want it as loud as it can get. If that's what you want, get the non-resonated.

Sorry but my GF gets really pissy when she has to sleep a half mile down the road so I don't know if it would wake her at that distance. If she changes her mind, I'll let you know.

1. The other guy said his friend could hear it a half mile away.

2. I said it wakes my GF across the house.

3. Yes, you are missing something. The ability to read and comprehend what you just read.

I didn't mean to offend you. I'm really blunt bordering on rude sometimes. Just trying to make the right decision on my exhaust.

Never heard it in person, just from youtube videos that seem to sound different from vid to vid.

Thanks for your input.

If you want really loud go non res. if you just want a bit more volume over stock and the beautiful FI sound then go res.

As a wise member told me.

Go 18" if you are going to be changing out the stock cats....i.e. HFC, TP, or LTH.

Go 12" if you are going to keep the stock cats

Go non-res and any combination if you like it LOUD!

Hope that helps

I have 18" with HFC and I think the sound is perfect!
