Fast Intentions exhaust is here! (continued)

No, Tony. It's like a pop pop sound when the refs drop. I am not complaining, just curious. I am ultra sensitive to every sound I guess. I think R3V

I think R3V answered it. I just did not expect this car to backfire, (or what ever it is). I hear it a lot on loud V8s.

I've had 2 370's and both had the "pop". I believe one of the improvements Nissan made from 2009 to 2014 was sound proofing. My 2009 NISMO was certainly louder then my 2014. Both had the stock NISMO CBE. I'm putting my FI CBE tomorrow. Will post if it's louder or outside of what I already know as the standard.

It's exhaust burble, it means your car is more manly than it used to be. Take it as a badge of honor and learn to enjoy the sound. I'd venture to guess that it's just unburnt fuel being taken care of by the hot pipes.

I get all kinds of fun sounds from my fully open exhaust.

I guess expectations and reality are two different things. I never read anybody talk about it, so I did not expect it. I thought maybe something was different about mine, maybe I needed a tune or something.

Its all good.

I basically went from break in period (never going over 4000 rpm) to the FI and WOT. From never hearing the exhaust et all to lots of sound. It seemed so loud for the first two weeks, the I did not hear anything but the exhaust. Now that is is broken in and much quieter, I hear all the different notes and sounds, so I was just curious.

The exhaust almost seems to have a life of its own, as it never exactly sounds the same day to day. It probably has to do with air temperature and ECU adjusting. It's pretty cool.

I have manly burble after a big lunch.

Yep, got 1025 installed. Finally sounds like what I think the car should sound like. After driving around all day I can confirm the pops and burps increase, but nothing that sounds out of ordinary. To each their own, but to me, FI makes the best CBE. THANKS AGAIN!

1024 installed on my 2013 Nismo. Couldn't get a bolt to come off the left cat (It's a CRAZY tight fit with ANY TOOL). Got tired of wrecking my hand trying to get the damn thing off... Just going to pay a shop to put the cat's on! This CBE is AMAZING! Originally had 12" resonators... switched to non res CF... WORTH EVERY PENNY! I did notice my car was running about 5-10 degrees hotter under normal daily load... Any advice besides getting an OIL Cooler? Tune should be at SpecialtyZ here in the next couple of weeks. Maybe they can put my cats on!

Wondering if the Z1 intake plenum upgrade is worth using to complete the project???
So the FI HFC's don't have mounting brackets to go with the stock supports, correct? What are the disadvantages of NOT using the stock cat supports?

Also while on the subject, I'm assuming the FI resonated HFC's would cut down on any drone noise compared to non-resonated HFC's. I already have the 18" resonated CBE, but wouldn't mind it being louder at WOT. Cruising volume is ok to me and I would like to keep it where it is, or maybe just a TAD louder.

EDIT: Off topic note. Love the sound of the exhaust when I'm driving in the parking garage at work. Also love the fact that some car alarms will chirp when I drive by

The noise you're talking about..."pop pop", is more of a backfire. This is most common in the nonresonated setup, which IMO is just "pissed off" sounding! It doesn't happen every time, but on an occassion when you hold your rev in the higher RPMs and all of a sudden let off, you'll get a "POP!" Puts a smile on my face very time!

There isn't necessarilly an "advantage" to not having the mounting brackets, they just aren't required to have is all.

The RHFCs will cut down slightly, but not a ton. I personally have ran RHFCs on the G37 setup with 18" in the X, and currently run RHFCs with NONres X. Drone is more prone from the Xpipe then trying to stop is immediately out of the cat, but since you have 18" resonators in the X already, you would most likely notice an immediate difference w/ the RHFCs vs HFCs.

@1cleanZ - just want to say Thanks. Your YouTube videos helped me make my decision on no only FI for my CBE, but also NON-resonated. Love the note. Next mode will be FI RHFCs!

Thanks. That is what I figured. Can this sound be adjusted (made louder or quiter) by tuning he car differently?

Congrats! The wait will be well worth it.

I don't believe there is any way to adjust the sound level while tuning the car. If you'd like to give me a call, I'd be more than happy to discuss your question.
