I would like to hear some feed back from some of you who have installed the 12" or 18" rather it be SS or CF thanks. Ive read that the 12" produces little to no drone I was just curious how true this actually is. I do use the car as a daily driver and will probably be leaving the stock cats on for some time. Thanks for the info in advance.

My Z is my DD right now as well. After talking with Tony and other members here I went with 18". I get the sound I want with no drone. But I am also putting on HFC at the same time.

From my research if you are keeping stock cats go with 12"

If you are putting on TP or HFC go with 18"

Only 5 more to go til I get mine :excited:

i DD my Z and i went Non-Res TP and CBE and love it. it is pretty loud lol but honestly drone is minimal. there is some but really the z is a pretty noisy car in the cabin stock. it isnt loud enough to bother me so it may be personal preference. i got almost 7k miles with mine on and i still absolutely love it every time i start up my car

Thanks for all of the info guys. Im probably going to go with the 12" Res since I will most likely be keeping the stock cats. The only reason Im planning on keeping stock cats is Id rather not venture out to far and do anything that might possibly throw up red flags and void my warranty. I know the CBE will void the warranty on the exhaust but if I ever have any issues with the car it wont be that hard to throw the stock exhaust back on. This is also my first Nissan and Im not sure how strict they are going to be about aftermarket parts. Thanks again.

smart idea but i've also heard that some nissan dealerships will still honor a warranty with a aftermarket twin turbo kit as long as they install it. i just wish i remember who told me that lol

Huan'z 07-13-2012 01:49 PM

That's smart. But there's a law that saying as long as the after market part doesn't cause the problem of the damage. Then they still have to honor it right?

i think it depends on the fine print of the particular warranty. i know my friend with a hyundai genesis put a aftermarket exhaust on and his warranty is still good.

also i got pulled over the other day for my F.I. exhaust lol dbag cop decided to stop me for having a "modified exhaust" which is illegal in PA. i laughed at him and said "umm is that all? i got things to do."

so for the record the non-res TP and CBE may draw extra po-po attention since the volume is a bit loud and the looks of this sexy exhaust draws em in too lol i wouldnt have any other exhaust though. F.I. all the way

I do know that any part on a vehicle that is replaced with an aftermarket part is not covered under the manufacturer warranty once replaced. If you were to have issues with your vehicle lets say with the transmission and brought it into the dealership they would have to prove that whatever aftermarket parts you had on at the time actually caused the transmission problems. They must have proof that the aftermarket parts actually caused damage to the vehicle before they can void your warranty. But this a dealersip we are talking about and all are different, Im sure they will most likely find some kind of way to void the warranty if they want to.

Google magnusson-moss warranty act. Basically what the guy above me said, they have to prove that the aftermarket part caused the damage. If you get a new exhaust and your wheel falls off, your warranty stands. If you get a short shifter and your tranny facks up, you may be SOL.

Back on topic guys!

Felix370z 07-13-2012 08:15 PM

So Im leaning more towards the 12" resonators. Anyone else running the 12"s or 18"s on stock cats have any more info about cabin noise or drone? Thanks.

Huck 07-13-2012 09:58 PM

Right now I have stock cats with no resonators and I have less than 10% drone at cruising speed. It's so low that I do t even notice the sound of the mufflers. If I step on it though, then it wakes up. You can take a look at the YouTube link I posted a few pages ago to my slower drive by, almost no noise at all.

Just watched your vids, thanks for the upload. Your right, there is barely any drone and it doesn't appear to be to loud on the inside of the car either. If that's what no resonators sounds like then Id imagine the 12" res will be perfect for me. Looks like it all boils down to personal preference. Thanks again guys.

For anyone worries about going with test pipes because of state inspection/emissions I just got mine done today and passed with no problem. Tony's exhaust is so good it fools the computers lol
