XwChriswX It was a very long night and very long Saturday! the nuts to the cats were seized so badly even with the right tools for the job and tons of penetrating oil I couldn't get them to release. I ended up rounding the nuts. Note to any DIY'er have a benzene torch at the ready and start with that. Don't even bother trying to do them without. You'll save yourself so much trouble. I ended up buying the Irwin Bolt Extractor set to yank those suckers outta there. I hung up my hat Friday night around midnight and continued into 2pm Saturday afternoon. I learned a lot with this install... buy a blowtorch! lol
Tony it sounds awesome! I'm totally satisfied with the purchase |

Do you guys think that these bolts would be as much trouble to remove on a brand new car? Do they get worth with age or are they this bad right from the factory?

There's a few things that I'm guessing made them hard to remove but I can only guess as I'm the second owner. I have a 2009 and I believe its from up north so maybe it has some salt exposure. But its only got 38,000 miles so I didn't think they'd be that tough. I ended up replacing those nuts against the cats and also the gasket as the ones to be reused from the factory were rotten beyond any chance of reusing them. I sealed everything up and tried to use them but had exhaust leaks all the way around. If it were me I would buy the nuts ahead of time as a precaution and also exhaust flanges between stock cat and the kit. It would have saved me a lot of running around time trying to beat the dealerships closing times. Would I do it again myself? Absolutely. It is so worth it. I would just prepare a little more to save myself the hassle.

Totally dependent on your mileage and the environment the vehicle is driven in. I've had my car since June 2010 in South Florida with approximately 70,000 miles. Bolts were seized so I had to resort to my floor jack handle as a breaker bar slipped on the 3/8 ratchet wrench. Air tools would certainly make the job easier and faster but apparently not necessary.

Just wanted to pop in and say my FI exhaust has held up great though a very snowy winter. Undercarriage washes help a lot. Gave her a proper wash last weekend, wiped down the carbon fiber and it looks like new. Next wash I do, I plan on polishing up the metal. Cheers!
