This is not totally accurate. I work with the stuff for my job and i can tell you that excessive amounts of contact with the skin can make you sick. Small amounts aren't gonna hurt you but continue splashing it on yourself and you're gonna get sick.

I concede the point; but for general use around the home workshop it's pretty safe. I believe the main issue with acetone is not the acetone itself, but the fact that it cleans your skin a bit too well, and increases the skin's permeability to other chemicals which can be harmful.

Wikipedia said that someone ingested a large quantity but made a full recovery. Apparently it's naturally produced in the body as part of the decarboxylation of ketone bodies, also called "digestion of fats."

Does anyone else experience the "Wikipedia Journey" syndrome?
