Default Ebay Air Intake

I just got a 370z and love it. I want to do an air intake. What is the difference between the K&N full air intake vs one on ebay like this one below besides about $250???

A car like the Z deserves better parts than Ebay junk.

Quality is your main difference.

You won't know until you purchase it but generally you will see things like cheaper finishes, bad fitment, improprely designed sensor ports for the MAF (or sometimes no port at all), cheap filters and couplers.

There is a chance that it may end up being perfectly fine.

My one criticism of that system though is that you are moving from a cool air OEM system (it draws from the bumper area) to a hot air by bringing the filter ports to the engine bay.

Injens a good option as well for an intake. Even the aftermarket cold air intakes bring out some extra roar from our motors

I recently removed a $500 "brand name" cold air intake from a 370z, and can tell you that it was on worse than any ebay stuff I have ever seen.

I have never seen aluminum tubing that thin. I was able to crush it using one hand (turning round in to oval). This intake system was clearly made in china at a cost of no more than $60, then branded and re-sold here at a ridiculous mark up. Just some food for thought I guess.

Sometimes, certain tuning houses release trash material. I'm from the camp that says to go with a tuner/aftermarket part maker that has done the brand of car, reliably, for years. Stillen has been doing Nissan for decades. That's a proven, and safe option.

The one you linked has the diameter transition too close (before) to the MAF sensor, so it may cause problems. Hard to say without testing.

However, the K&N intakes don't follow the rules either when it comes to having a flow sensor/meter inside a tube, so it may be fine.

I had JWT's on my 300zx TT. They seem to be frowned upon with the 370z community though.

Why be that critical if you won't call out the manufacturer? Let it out!

jwt's aren't bad by any means, its just that the design has not changed since the 350z, and our stock air boxes are pretty good. JWT's just suffer from heatsoak.

I was thinking the same thing... if you wanna warn people, warn them... if not keep it quiet.

$500 name brand intake narrows you down to no less than 5-10 options for our car.
