Fast Intentions vs Berk CBE

Can anyone provide any comparisons between these two CBE systems? Both looks and sound note quality?

henry0844 05-29-2012 11:09 AM

I can only comment for the berk, but it is nice and deep and burbly. makes it sound like a 350 on steroids. plus the berk looks almost stock, but has oval tips. I only have the cat back, no hfc or test pipes. I think it is one of the only exhausts to have an x pipe in place of the stock y pipe. somebody can correct me If I am wrong. two great exhausts to choose from tho, can't go wrong with either one.

I have the Berk with HFC. It's deep in the lower RPM, but it screams at a higher pitch(like a mini ferrari) at the higher RPMs. I love this combo!

Yep, same here.

I would probably lean toward the F. I. exhaust due to the complaints that two-three people had regarding the Berk.

I second that emotion. I love the sound, especially during all of the downshifting on the "Dragon" last week. I was like :driving::driving:.

Yep, puts a smile on my face everytime.

I've also had very good customer service from Berk, they were extremely helpful.

thanks, I figured another had the x pipe. only issues that the berk had was when the exhaust was first released. one hanger was too short on the muffler portion of the exhaust, and would slip out and cause the muffler to hang uneven. this has since been fixed, I heard of no issues after that.

Berk retains the stock look and gives you a good low sound much what the 370z should of had stock. F.I. has separate cans for a more aggressive look when looking at the rear of the vehicle and you can also get them in carbon fiber. It also has its own unique deep low tone. Which sounds better to you. Either find someone locally to hear it in person or go by the youtube video. I chose F.I.

Anyone have any videos with both exhausts in the video with stock cats?

Felix 808 05-29-2012 04:13 PM

For quality & customer service, you are not going to be able to find better than Fast Intentions. The wait is more than worth it.

How about sound volume of the Berk with stock cats vs FI with stock cats and say the 18" res. Which is louder and is it by much? Which has a LOWER sound as well?

Maybe someone who's had both on can give a better answer. But from what I understand, Berk is more "what the car should have sounded like from the factory". Pretty quiet at idle, has a nice roar in the lower rpms and harmonizes with the VQ at WOT.

F.I. is a bit more exotic and has a deeper tone at the lower rpms. With stock cats, it's definitely louder from what I've read and heard.

Thanks, yeah i wish i could find a video with two cars using the same recording device so I could here both side by side....

To be honest. You can't really go wrong with either. Myself, I've decided on going with the F.I. set-up non-resonated with stock cats. I want a clean aggressive sound and don't want the hassle of hfc's to get it.

But the Berk/HFC combo is downright nasty. It definitely made me think twice.

I know that you have gotten a lot of positive feedback here on both our system and the Berk.

I just wanted to let you know that I received your pm and will be getting back to you shortly. In the meantime if you need a quicker response, please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Thank you, Tony

Are there ground-clearance differences between the two?

tomnavone 05-30-2012 07:05 PM

No ground clearance issues for me. I'm lowered on eibachs
Ordered from fbnissan sub $1000 price and delivered in three days

I remember 2 people on this forum here recently had issues with Berk.

Here are both post of the Berk issue........

There's been more berk issues over the years here. It will be a hard search though... but memory serves about 7 to 9 issues. Not to mention on 350 and G forums. All the issues I know of have been with the HFC's sparking/imploding or deforming to a point that they malfunction or cause damage to the engine. There are enough issues for me to personally not want to buy Berk hfc. I can't speak for the exhaust as a individual mod.

MacLean 05-30-2012 11:34 PM

The two links that I just posted are the most recent ones that I can actually remember.

LakeShow 05-30-2012 11:36 PM

Honestly man the Berk CBE without the HFC sounds almost like nothing, very quiet. When both paired up its sounds mean as hell. As far as the Fast Intentions 18", it sounds almost like the Berk with the HFC. Both exhausts without cats, the F.I. Sounds better. Berk HFC and CBE vs F.I. 18" I think is a toss up, both sound great. Now a F.I. and HFC should sound sick, but I've never heard that combo so can't really say but should be great.
As far as customer service, F.I. is the way to go. Also as Maclean said, there was a couple incidents that popped up involving the Berk parts, but I cant really go out and say its a bad product because there was never really a persistent issue with Berk and many people are happy with their Berk products.
