Quieting Stock Intake

This is probably an odd question, but can anyone think of any ways to quiet down the intake on the stock 370Z? Maybe some type of wrap or something? I like the exhaust note but dont care for much sound coming from the engine if possible....

Thx

Not to dismiss your problem but even with my Stillen G3 intake I can hardly hear my intake. I'm a little surprised to hear that this is a problem. I suspect that your noise concerns would be better addressed by reducing road noise with the application of Dynamat or a similar product in the cargo/hatch/rear wheel well area. Much has been written on this topic and productive solutions are readily available.

Perhaps you could elaborate on your intake noise problem.

I suppose it might be just overall engine noise. The road noise does not bother me a bit. Is there anything to quiet down the engine then including intake etc? Like has anyone added dynamat or something to the engine compartment?

Read RiCharlie's "Cabin Noise" thread in the "General Discussions" section. It's very long but take the time to read it all. In my posts (mostly in the first half of the thread) I outline the specific steps I took to address my concerns as well as the costs and benefits of each method. Just ignore the BS comments like "Turn up the radio!" or "It's a sports car!". After you've read it all please don't hesitate to PM me or continue our discussion on this thread.

Ok Ill do that, btw how has the engine noise been for you?

Erm, may i ask at what point during driving the engine/intake noise is too much for you?

Guard Dad 05-23-2012 01:40 PM

The root of the problem is resonance and road noise not engine noise. Attack those problems and I think you'll agree that the engine is no big deal. The engine is not really loud unless you are at full throttle and at high revs. I'm guessing that the noise that concerns you occurs in normal driving when the engine is actually fairly quiet.

Do you have an after market exhaust?
