Fast Intentions 3" (Twin Turbo) exhaust is here!

5/13/2012

First off we would like to thank the following people & shops who participated and helped launch this project.

RON: You kept on me to create this system for you and brought enough people to the table to justify putting it in to production.
Sebastian@SpecialtyZ: Thank you for loaning us your car to perfect the GTM version.
Andrew@UAM: Thank you for loaning us the NISMO to perfect the Greddy version.

This exhaust system is the same design as our 2.5" TDX version. Though the design was already perfected bringing this exhaust to reality was a little more complicated than it's predecessor. Maximizing ground clearance was a big concern for us. We knew going into this project that getting the front of the mufflers tucked up as high as possible was a top priority. After weeks of hard work and dedication we were able to achieve our goal and perfect this system.

We wanted to try something that had never been done before. We wanted to appeal to as many people as possible regardless of what brand they have. We understand that Twin Turbo kits are a lot of money. It is the kind of investment that when you commit to it you most likely will never change it. So this is why our Fast Intentions 3" TDX will be compatible in the following applications:

1) Fast Intentions Twin Turbo Kit (Release Summer 2012)
2) GTM Twin Turbo Kit
3) Greddy Twin Turbo Kit

This exhaust is not compatible for a Supercharged on Naturally Aspirated application!

Options

Standard: Stainless Steel muffler exhaust (54 pounds: 3 pounds lighter than stock.)

Option#1: (Additional Charge) 100 Cell Metallic High Flow Cats. These cats will virtually cut out the "raw fuel smell" while any sacrifice in performance will be very minimal. You will also decrease your overall decibel level. (56 pounds: 1 pound lighter than stock.)

Option#2: (Additional Charge) 2,000 Degree Black Ceramic coated mufflers. Yes the temperature rating is slightly excessive but the durability of this coating is unrivaled! Aside of it's durability, it's aesthetics can be quite appealing to whoever is going for that look.

After doing extensive testing we have opted not to have a resonated X Pipe option. With your Turbochargers acting as primary mufflers we feel the resonators are not needed. In terms of overall decibel level, the exhaust is very practical and not overbearing in the slightest.

Video and ordering information below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMzUGDKH4JA

We will launch the sale thread for this with pricing in the Vendor Classified section shortly. Anyone that is interested in pricing and availability please do not hesitate to either pm me, email or call me directly. All of my contact information is located at the bottom.

Our ordering process will work the same as always. All of our systems are hand built right here in house. They are constructed and shipped on a first come, first serve basis. When you place an order all that we require is a $300 deposit. We do not charge the remaining balance until your exhaust is ready to ship. Your order will come with new hardware, gaskets and detailed installation instructions. This exhaust will bolt right up to your current Twin Turbo kit and should not require and cutting welding or modifying at all! As soon as your order does ship, we will email your tracking number to you. Our lead times always increase/decrease with product demand. These lead times can be rather large year round due to our products being in high demand. To rectify the large lead times we are moving in to our new 7,500 sq ft. facility. We will be up and fully operational July 1st. In time after the transition I am confident that we can give you the same great quality while reducing lead times.

We look forward to giving the Z community another great product from F.I. Inc. Stay tuned for more updates in this thread and new products being released this summer!

Thank you all as always.

Tony

Thanks guys! We plan to do a full video just like out 2.5" CBE and have it up here no later than Sunday night. We are excited to showcase the sound of this exhaust. The twin turbos leading the way take the sound to an entirely different level!

Stay tuned...

As some may know, I was the purchaser of #003 of the 3” F.I. TDX Exhaust. Below I have put together a “complete” review for everyone’s reading pleasure! Enjoy! :tiphat:

Purchasing Experience 9/10: I knew I was going to need a larger diameter exhaust with my TT kit, as my car had an Invidia Gemini exhaust prior to F.I., and it was way too much of a choking point coming from the 3” down pipes. Once I spoke to Ron and found out that Tony was going to offer a 3” version of the TDX, it was a no-brainer. I purchased my exhaust from Tony over the phone in early 2012. He walked me through my options (100 CEL Cats vs. No Cats), and I made the decision to ultimately go with cats to avoid being harassed by law enforcement, emissions, etc. Tony kept in touch throughout the build process, letting me know of any little event that could potentially delay delivery (Sorry Tony, I had to take one point away here for making me wait so anxiously!).

Quality/Appearance 10/10: I think this is no surprise here. Everyone on the forum who has purchased an F.I. exhaust, either directly from Tony, or used from another forum member, has seen the quality I am talking about. The welds are perfect, bends are flawless, and the muffler cans/tips shine like no other. Even the packaging was top-notch. It took me almost as long to unpack the exhaust as it did to install it. The gaskets and hardware Tony provided with the kit were also of the highest quality. I have no doubt the exhaust will outlast the car. The tips do get dirty pretty quickly, especially in the rain and combined with the richness of WOT. I have already gone out and picked up a can of the Eagle One Never Dull – it works wonders.

Ease of Installation 10/10: Tony engineered the exhaust off another GTM TT car he had access to locally. I expected fitment issues, just due to the fact that every car and every TT install is a little different. The installation went flawlessly. With myself and a helper, I was able to get the removal of the Invidia and install of the F.I. done in less than an hour (it did help that we had access to a lift!). Tony’s instructions are excellent, and the install is a snap. When I installed my Invidia exhaust, I had to add washers to the mounting bracket on the Driver’s Side of the muffler support, to adjust the tips to sit evenly. I had no such issue with the F.I. exhaust. Everything bolted up perfectly and sat evenly on the first try. I tightened down all the bolts, fired it up, and had zero leaks. I did experience a little vibration from the passenger side heat shield near where the exhaust bolted to the down pipe, but with a little persuasion of the heat shield, I got rid of the rattle.

Sound 9/10: The exhaust sounds amazing, period. It is a nice deep rumble that is not too loud, but lets you know that it is there (I have already set off a car alarm with a cold start!). Under acceleration, it sounds aggressive, but not raspy or high-pitched. The combination of the turbo spooling with the exhaust note is music to my ears. I did take one point away for the drone at highway speed. It is there, and can get annoying at very particular RPMs – but come on, it is a TT monster of a sports car; there is no reason to complain here.

Performance TBD: I can already feel the turbos spool quicker, you can tell the car can finally breathe easy. I am seeing about a 1psi increase in boost at WOT with my current boost controller settings (what used to be about 6psi is peaking at 7psi now). I plan to get the car to the dyno in the next couple weeks (work has been crazy and I haven’t yet had the chance) and will update my rating once I have a dyno chart to show. Unfortunately, I will not have a before/after F.I. dyno chart, but may try to dyno on open down pipes for comparison purposes.

Overall, I cannot be more satisfied with the exhaust. Thank you Tony and the rest of the F.I. team for putting such hard work and attention to detail into your products. If anyone has ANY questions at all related to ordering, installation, sound, etc. please do not hesitate to PM me. I will try to get some videos and dyno charts put up when I get around to getting them.

Thanks again F.I.! :tiphat:

Like the 2.5", I would assume that the volume will die down a bit after it settles in a bit more?

Yup, I believe so (Tony correct me if I am wrong). The volume is by no means obnoxious or overly loud, it is actually pretty tame. There is just a little more resonance at about 70mph on the highway than there was before. It really does not bother me, but wanted to mention that it is there!

DIGItonium 05-18-2012 09:03 AM

OMG. WANT.

I'd like to know how the 100 cell setup is compared to my current 12" TDX + F.I. HFC setup.
