motordyne clearance issue
Got my exhaust installed @ Performance Motorsports in Smithtown, Long Island this past week and ran into a couple of fitment issues. Now, I'm not sure if these "issues" are actually normal or require some sort of remedy to correct?
1) The fitment of my left tip seems pretty dead center inline with my rear valence, but the clearance from the top of the tip to the bottom of the valence seems a bit close (approx 1/4 inch). 2) The fitment of my right tip seems to be completely off. No matter how much I adjusted the tip itself, it still pulled to the left. Also, along with being off center in regards to the valence, the top to bottom clearance was none existent as compared to the 1/4 inch I had on the other side(which also seemed a little close). 3) One of the 3 screw in bolts on both tips was not machined completely(as pointed out by the tech) to allow any adjustment via allen wrench. If anybody experienced the same issues please chime in. Hopefully Tony or some other members can help remedy this problem. As of now it's not really an issue, more of an annoyance. But when i decide to throw a rear diffuser on, it definitely will be. P.S. I am running the 4.5 inch rolled tips Thanks! Another look |

I'm pretty sure you can adjust the vertical clearance by rotating the axle-back pieces of the exhaust - counterclockwise for driver-side and clockwise for passenger. Not sure about the horizontal alignment of the right tip.

The exhaust takes a bit to line everything up and adjust, it was my least favorite thing about it. I had to adjust/rotate the mid pipe and the rear section to get it closer. Make sure your hanger rods are pushed through the rubber hangers enough and they should sit almost horizontal.
Tip: That allen bolt looks like its installed upside down; I think the head that's showing should be making contact with the exhaust pipe take it out by hand and check the other end

Besides lining everything up correctly, how much vertical clearance should I be aiming for with the 4.5 inch tips? Does the left side look ok? Or can I adjust it even more, and how?

Its all in the adjustment.
[QUOTE=igota21incher;1719027] Fitment here is perfect and as it should be. 2) This is easy to fix. Its not the tip, its the rotation of the axleback pipe where it connects to the passengerside midpipe. Loosen up the clamp that joins the passenger side midpipe to axleback. Push up the two pipes and tighten it back up. That will bring your tip to the right. Its basically putting about ~5 degrees of clockwise rotation on your axleback section. Do this and your tip will line up perfectly. 3) The screw is in backwards. Take it out, flip it around and put it back in. |

Thanks tony and everyone else for your quick replys, I Knew it would be a simple fix. One more question tho, am I going to be able to fit a rear diffuser from Evo-r or fujimara or am I honna need spacers?
