Beginner needs advice!
First of all: I donīt really know anything about exhausts, intakes etc......I hope you guys can help me. I read in a lot of reviews that the stock 370z has a very conservative, unemotional or even boring sound. My question is: Is there a possibility to leave the exterior, or exhaust sound, as it is and at the same time accentuate the sound that you here in the cockpit? Unfortunately the 370z is not yet available in my country.
Thanks in advance! :tiphat: |
not really...you'd need a louder exhaust if you want to hear it more in the car
|
^^ why the bizarre answers...lol...just get an axle back exhaust....sounds like stock and louder...or just put HFC's on the stock exhaust and call it a day
|
I can see this site turning more into "my350" every day
If you don't want to answer the dudes question, move the f on. |

Exactly what I thought. +1 To the OP - maybe remove some of the interior sound deadening? |
Thank you onethreefive for cleaning this thread up.
Even though I didn't get a chance to see what went on (I can if I want to), I will still remind everyone to read the forum rules again. Personal attacks, make fun of a member because of their question etc are not allowed here. There are plenty of forums on the net that allows such behavior. The370Z.com is NOT one of them. Thanks for understanding and I hope you guys understand where we are coming from. |
onethreefive, if he does that, he will hear more road noise...that isnt good.
put HFC's on the stock exhaust or put an axle back system....either or is the only way for a good rumble sound to hear it |

Onethreefive's idea is good, as long as the OP doesn't mind the sound of road noise as well. He might not mind since he wants to hear more sound in the cockpit. |
he'll come to realize my way is best.......new exhaust FTW
taking apart the Z for more noise...not worth it. maybe the OP thinks aftermarket exhausts are too loud and will distrub neighbours or something |
Maybe. Hopefully he will chime in as to why he doesnt want a louder outside note. There are many options he can go with if he is concerned about exhaust being too loud.
|
yea, many options to come
|
Did you guys notice he's in Germany? My guess is that he has to deal with more stringent regulations than we do here.
|
I noticed, but assumed their regs were less stringent than ours
|
My post was a genuine solution to getting the exhaust note to the interior - if you use a mic and amplify it with the speakers that would give you a louder exhaust note inside but not affect the stock sound. That's the only viable solution I can think of....

Looks like there was a ruckus in here.
|
Although a very extreme mod if you ask me, but the 2010 Mustang has a sound induction tube to pipe more resonant intake noise into the cabin.
2010 FORD MUSTANG QUIETER WHERE IT COUNTS | Ford Motor Company Newsroom Mustang also features an industry-first Induction Sound Tube (IST), which enhances the driving experience by piping the sound of the induction system directly into the passenger compartment. |

There was no ruckus and there weren't any personal attacks going on. We were being sarcastic and humorous in our suggestions for making more interior exhaust noise, like drilling holes in exhaust and floorboards, etc. The techniques are similar to the mustang's sound induction tubes, just thatwe were getting laughs out of it. I'll be honest, I didn't read the forum conduct rules and didn't realize that humor isn't allowed in this forum. My apologies.
|
woah there!! ok so you wanna hear the cars noise more in your cabin right? Well short of HFCs or a new exhaust you could also get a pair of pop chargers - you wont be hearing exhaust but the engine noise will be amazing :)
|
my bad, i was just messing around. the JWT intakes are a good idea though. they sound very nice WOT. also when i got my 5Zigen exhaust i got the rear section before the y-pipe and it sounded very good but wasnt real loud. just some things to think about.
the sound induction thingy is interesting. never heard of anyting like that before. kinda weird |
Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. By the way, I didnīt really feel offended by the "humorous" posts, but a little annoyed. It turned out that this forum is operated by respectable moderators..thanks guys. The reason why I donīt want to change the sound that you hear from outside of the car is simply because I personally donīt want to be heard from 10 miles away. I recently drove a porsche cayman s and compared to the 370z it sounds like a "real" sportscar from the inside, but quite decent from the outside....hence my question.
|
it may have sounded better from the inside but did you know that your new Z is faster?

I highly doubt that this guy is gonna trade in a BRAND NEW porche for a 370Z.I was going for one that's not the newest one out. Just look up "cayman s 0-60" you'll see what I mean. (370Z is 4.7 and "rsportscars" says caymanS is 5 by the way)
|
Plus idk about you but just knowing that my car even competes with a legendary porche like that just makes me excited. I mean were not exactly in the same category. How much does the cayman cost by the way? last time i checked it was almost double (out the door) the cost of mine. im just saying
