CAI issue
Here is my problem....i just got the car last month...and I noticed that the CAI is an aftermarket AEM knock off...the intakes are in the fenders above wheels. Car stalled and sputter after a large rain storm. ( i didnt drive through it) I am just getting back the car from dealership and the diagnosis is the water got sucked in and shorted out MAF sensor. I live in South Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and rain here in April- June is no joke. I am seriously considering pulling this CAI system out and either going back to stock or to KN Typhoon system...sits much higher and looks like it can stay dryer. Am I over reacting here or have any you guys had similar issues. I have thought of going to Stillen Gen 3 until this happened...I feel even if give up some HP, the risk of these silly problems and the major scare of Hydro Lock... just doesnt seem worth it. Any thoughts?

I have the stillen 3gs and have had no issues. I even drove through a serious storm for about 2 hours on the interstate barely doing 30 b/c of visibility. Also if are in need of the stock air boxes I have those and one brand new k&n air filter.

You can swap your current CAIs for the Stillens and you may even gain some power. A cheaper, easier, option is either a pre-filter/filter bag (K&N offers high quality ones) or an AEM "bypass valve". The older AEM valves had issues, but they've redesigned them and I've never heard of any problems with the newer versions.

Not for anything, but I live in the same city as you. Been driving my car with gen3s and absolutely no problems. If you get water up high enough to submerge those filters, you have bigger problems....

i didnt submerge my filters....actually car was parked... i think this was just a fluke happening...i am ordering Gen3 tonight and hoping to find a shop to put it in for me. F*cking MAF sensor cost me $638... parts and labor, so I almost went stock to be safe. Next time I'll do it myself..
