aFe Power Takeda Intake System

Has anyone tried this intake [aFe Power Takeda Intake System]? I have an aFe Stage II intake on my truck and it is awesome. I would definitely buy from aFe again unless there is something better out there. Apparently no mods necessary for installation, looks pretty straightforward.

I myself was probably gonna go with it. Same design as stillen (for the most part) but just different filter. I hear that some people had issues with the coupler tearing during install but i dont see that really as much as a problem as just needing to be more careful during install. Should make very similar power to stillen as the design is almost identical. Just different filter and its a little cheaper.

I like the way it looks. Do you guys think there is a huge difference b/w the Stillen & Takeda? I still have a ways to go before I decide to go with a CAI. I heard you want to wait until you have at least 5k miles on your car before installing a CAI. I like the way Takeda looks more than the Stillen CAI. I am not a huge fan of cutting something out of the front bumper. Does the Takeda CAI come with a bypass value, or is that something that you have to purchase separately & install? Is there huge differences is sounds & performance gains from short, or long CAI's?

Takeda has a shield deflector you can buy separately but i'm kind of uncertain about it. From the looks of it, it looks like it would protect from lockin the motor but i also looks like it would restrict air flow at the same time. But safety of my motor is more important then some hp lol.

Cool.... SO how would it "lockin the motor"? Oh hell yes......the motor does come before a couple hp....

hahah sorry. typo. I mean to put hydrolocking lol. Since it does sit out front and right behind the bumper, when it rains it could be prone to sucking some of it up just like the stillen, but the shield protects it for the most part. Its got slots in it to not fully block the filter from the air.

15hp/16tq, 3hp less for $100 less then the stillen......seems very worth it to me.

Not too bad at all. I would agree that 3hp less for $100 less does seem better. Even with that guard could you still get a bypass value, or that is it? I believe if you got water in the engine you would be stuck like chuck...

interesting! was looking at picking up some stillen gen3's soon might have to toss it up between that and this one.

Thats the problem with the Takeda also....If you look where the 2 pipes connect with a coupler, the coupler is the bend for the piping to route to the front. Stillen, the pipe is actually the bend itself and the 2 pipes actually connect with a basic 3 ply coupler which means it could easily be swapped out with a bypass valve. Assuming thats why the stillen is more expensive also due to the pipe having mandrel bends compared to takeda using a coupler to make the bend.....Then there's my idea where you could always cut the takeda pipe into THREE piece setup instead of 2 and install a bypass valve on part of the straight pipe pre-maf....... up to you really whats worth the effort or not.

Do you seriously think you need a bypass valve to avoid hydrolock? Stop driving through lakes!


It's more of an issue with AEM or Injen style intakes that put the filters way low in the fender well.

Eh, with the right tools (which i have) wouldnt take but a few mins to cut each one and place a bypass valve. I could have them cut and ready by the time my buddy takes off the front fascia to install it.

Edit: like i stated earlier, the cover that you can buy is probably more then enough to keep it safe and secure cause yes, that is where the afe is installed also. Bypass valve is just the ultimate fail safe......more needed for intakes like the AEM and Injen with the filter bein placed in the wheel well.

LOL....funny guy. Only an idiot would do so. What if & I mean what if it is pouring down rain & your driving. I know I wouldn't want any water in the engine. I would like to be safe than sorry. I doubt you would lose hp with a bypass value.

I see...... I would probably get an Injen before AEM, but I would for sure get a Stillen before an Injen.

The Takeda Stage 2 Intake requires no cutting/drilling to the bumper. Just a straight bolt on installation.

Your right, the shield will protect most of the rain that might hit the filter. However, the filter would need to be soaked/fully submerged in water to even get enough water hydrolock the motor.
