Bought an intake for my 40th anniversary!
And so it begins! Just bought an Injen dual intake system from autoanything.com. Got them to price match it for $420, free shipping. Can't wait to start working on it!:rofl2:

watch out for "puddles"
puddles?
He is referring to where the filters are re-located to with the Injen setup. Don't try to ford a small stream and you should be ok.
I think trying to that with this car would be a bad idea even w/o the injens lol.
Icearrowx,
i am not an Injen fanboy and the Stillens and other intakes are probably good too. But whether or not the Nismo front clip or ducting makes a difference don't know. But i can tell you after having Injens on my car for almost 2 years, driving at highway speeds through heavy rain, have not had any issues with hydro lock or any other problems with them. |
I have no personal experience with them, I just see it fromw time to time on here with ppl having hydrolock issues and what not
Yeah i had a friend with those intakes who hydrolocked his a couple times.

In all my years of owning and being involved with modified vehicles, I've only seen 1 hydrolocked engine. Also, if you're really worried about it you could always install one of these: AEM Air Bypass Valve for Cold Air Intakes - Prevents Hydro-lock All it would take is about an hour of time with a chop saw and a welder. You could get by without the welder, actually. I just like to over engineer stuff :) |
That looks like too much work. I may just buy the K&N hydroshields and fenaggle them onto the air filters.
LOL at the Hydro-Locking I had a nismo CAI on my 350Z never had an issue.
DAN |
Everyone knows that hydrolocking is actually locking/seizing the engine, right? not just having a running problem due to some water ingress...
I thought a lot of these CAI came with bypass values? I think it would be good & probably wise to have it. You may never know what could happen.
Only AEM's comes with the hydro lock bypass valve as an optional part. The Nismo CAI for the 350Z had a bypass valve. AEM is the only other mfg I know of that uses the valve bypass for the 370Z. I have Injen CAI on both 370Z's with 30k miles and no problems with hydro lock.
Did consider AEM's bypass valve and if I lived closer to Scott's place - Vivid Racing, I would probably fork over some $$ and have him "over engineer" it. I have a few extra Injen water repellant booties - hydro shields, if anyone is interested. There is a thread around somewhere with mods to the Injen CAI setup. |
