Which intake is the easiest to deal with?
 

I am debating which one I should buy. I was sold on the Stillen G3 until I learned that replacing the filers requires removal of the front bumper. Also, according to the Z1 site the stillen requires modification to the fiberglass core support?

After learning that I was considering the Nismo R-Tune intake, but according to posts on here it seems like the Nismo intake places the intakes in such a way that they do not get any direct airflow, so that sounds counterproductive to me.

The Injen intake seems to have too many problems so I won't be looking into that.

I guess I am just left with AEM? Does this intake have any of the problems as the others? Also, will it fit the Nismo model?

I have the g3 intakes its super easy to remove the bumper takes like 2 minutes. The filters get really good airflow where they are and u dont have to worry about hydrolocking. Also the "fiberglass core support" is plastic that u just shave off with like a small hand saw. Super super easy to do. Just make sure u wrap the a/c lines with rubber so the intake on the driver side doesnt cause damage to it. I did it myself in my garage and love them! Power and sound is noticeable! And u only have to worry about messing with the filters every 40 thousand miles or so. And its so easy to take the bumper off. Thats my two cents. Plus the injen ones ive had a friend who his z hydrolocked every time he went over a puddle. So i wouldnt get a cai that puts the filters next to ur wheel wells.

I have the K&N Typhoon's, no modification and easy to get at the filter elements. If you look at the hp gains compared to the others its minimal difference with the shorter tubes and I didn't feel comfortable cutting on my car. Plus the Stillen short intakes use the same filter elements as the K&N but cost more. Biggest bang for your buck would be the K&N.

All CAI's will require the removal of the front bumper. SRI's, dropins, and stock intakes are your best bet for simple maintenance.

The stillen site says the intake will fit the Nismo model "with modifications". and then it says that the Nismo instructions are not currently supplied:ugh2:

Anyone know what these "modifications" are?

You can just call stillen directly they are pretty good with customers . I have gen3 s also and they are nice however takeda has a system coming soon that don't require core support cutting. So that's an option also. Good luck.
