HKS Hi Power TI Rattle
I posted in the past about my issue with the HKS exhaust i purchased making a vibration noise. THmotorsports is not going to help me out, and it seems HKS USA is... MIA.
Im about to sell it for half price (only hear the vibration during heavy acceleration) Or have my shop do some surgery on the muffler to try to find where this noise is coming from.. Any suggestions im losing patience on this? |
Did you remove the emissions shield on the passenger side of the car at the rear bumper? That should have come off or it will rub and rattle against the exhaust...
describe the sound you are getting if possible |
Hard to tell anything from the video. There is no longer an HKS USA (they closed last summer), so you can't do anything there. The new imports for HKS might have some recourse though, but you'd have to talk to the people you bought it from and have them take care of it with whoever they got it from.
Check several things: 1. heat shield for carbon canister as mentioned 2. check to see whether the tips aren't loose for any reason 3. check to see that the exhaust isn't making contact with any other parts under the car 4. I've see quite a few people mistake VQ rasp for light rattling, so that might be the issue. |

I had the same issue on my first drive. I think it's 3 bolts and the emissions shield came off. It's a very easy fix. |
Yeah, all great points and suggested previously.
I realize the video is bad.. But the sound is muffled when i hit it, and if you listen closely you can hear the rattle. On the left the sound is solid with a different tone all together. I guess that could be by design. |
The inner perforated tube is cracked or disconnected from the muffler base. I am almost sure that this is the case.
