Seems slower - is it in my mind?
 

I had Ark exhaust and Berk HFCs installed a few weeks back - definitely felt more powerful.

However, in the last two days, I've noticed my oil temps are 220-230 with normal driving and the car doesn't feel as fast - normally, my temps are 180-200. I used Sunoco gas (usually use BP) for my last tank and have 1/4 tank left - could that be it? Is this just in my mind? Could it be the exhaust "breaking in" and changing the RPM where max torque/power are made?

Hotter oil temps cause timing retarding, which creates a significant loss of power. Get an oil cooler. I got one done and never looked back, one of the best things you can do to the Z.

So temps at like 220 will cause this? This seems insane to me, it's 55 degrees here and I wasn't driving in a spirited manner (cruising on back roads at 45-55 in fifth/sixth gear), how can the oil temps get that high with such gentle driving? How can anyone drive this car in a spirited manner when its more than 40 degrees out?

EDIT: Last few months it's been 20-30 degrees, oil temps below 200. No issues.

220-230 should really have no affect on the car. Once you start hitting like 260+ then your gonna feel it. You may also just be getting used to the power you added. But you should consider an oil cooler it is like stated above one of the best mods you can do to the z.

Its getting warmer up here in the Northeast. My temps hit 225 degrees this passed Sunday and it was only 65 degrees out. This was after 45 minutes of very normal driving.

I agree. Very noticeable difference.

Anything above 220 and the car will pull back timing the hotter and hotter the car gets until it reaches limp mode.

220 is pretty normal temps imo

I have the exact same issue.

I have Berks HFCs and FI CBE and some days it runs like a champ (the exhaust is a bit louder, could just be me), and some days it runs so sluggish and the oil temps skyrocket and im just cruisin and seems to struggle. I don't know what it is. At first i thought it was the HFCs but those are fairly new.

I don't know what to do to resolve this, it frustrates the crap out of me.

P.S as ambient temps go up, cars will feel slower.

I remember one day i was on the west side of atlanta in around 92 weather and the car was just whatever. But then i drove to the esat side, where it had just finishd storming and was around 72 and the car felt alot more fun to drive

Yes i concur with that statement, experienced this with my past cars. But this seems to be an itermittent problem irrespective of ambient temps. I will be in 50 degree weather and the power would be significantly less and the oil temps would jump to 220-230.

Definitely ordering the oil cooler as the next thing to do, but will this resolve the issue completely or at least help lessen the unbearable power loss? I don't know.

MY car's been running like a scalding dog after an @ss whipping with a news paper with the oil cooler on. Power seems alsways on and never snoozing on me any more. Temps are a bit too low right now, but I anticipate it being in the sweet spot during the hot summer months. Temps have been averaging mid 60's on cold days to about 80 on warm days. Oil temps are between 160 and 180 cruising or sitting in traffic.
