New Style Takeda Attack Intakes $400 - Got mine!

Anyone try to cut the rad support on these to get smoother airflow? I might try that to see if it makes a difference.

No cutting is required!!!! As mentioned several times, the rad supports simply unbolt.

I got these installed yesterday (pain in the a$$ bumper removal).
I'm not sure if I want to put the stickers on or not. I kinda like them bare.

What? Nothing unbolts...

Anyway he was talking about cutting it to be more circular in order to have smoother flow through the elbow. He wasn't saying it was necessary for the intakes to function.

The section of the radiator support he is speaking of is definitely NOT round and would have to be cut if you wanted it to accommodate a round silicone bend without deforming it from round.

The section in question certainly is not round and certainly unbolts and comes right out. After which, the silicone elbow has plenty of room and is not compressed at all. That is how I installed mine and others as well.

Doubt me still? Look at Photo #4 above... Guess what those bolts attach to...

Maybe I have a special high performance, ease of upgrade model whereas you don't.

So you're full of ****.

Here's a nice, open photo of the piece in question. The bolt holes hold the support to the frame of the car. The section in question is very firmly cast into the rest of the support and cannot be 'Unbolted and removed'.

Now if your argument is based on the idea that the rad support is 2 pieces, no dice. It's just one piece and it all comes out.

It's all one big piece, what the hell are you talking about?

The radiator support is one huge piece of plastic that stretches from one side of the front of the car to the other. There are some bolt-on parts on the far left and right sides that mount to the fenders and support the headlights. NOTHING on the interior of it is removable!

Please supply pictures of the part that you "Unbolted and removed"

I would LOVE to see how different your radiator support is than mine.

You are the first and only person on this forum that I have seen mention removing these pieces.

Here are some more actual photos of the radiator support.

If you are trying to say that in order to make this intake fit, you (and others) have completely removed the 'rad support', then it couldn't be more plain you're making stuff up to be an internet tough guy.

Correct, below is a pic of the part that unbolts from the pic Shovelman posted. The hose that comes with the kit does have to be deformed a bit to fit through AFTER this part is removed, you WOULD have to grind/cut the area shown in Shovelman's photo if you wanted to have every pipe be as round as possible from the filter to the throttle bodies.

Yes.

If he is talking about the snorkel from the airbox to that hole, then yes, he is correct and this has been a massive mis-communication.

Either way, that hole through the radiator support is the same permanently attached structure on everyone's car.

Having not pulled my bumper yet, I can see where it looks like I made a mistake in my description...

Apparently I pulled the air duct out and left the support. My confusion stemmed from Takeda calling it the "radiator support passage." Other designs call for the removal of the ducting whereas the Takeda system does not, at least not in the version that came with my intake last year. The ducting definitely needs to go.

So I apologize to Sh0velMan for the confusion.
