Weapon-R Dragon Intake
Hey i was just curious has anyone installed one of these intakes on their 370z? they look like they might be more for show than for performance I was interested if anyone had any further info on them or if they've installed one yet.

I talked to Weapon-R Racing last year about making an intake for the 370Z since they already had a dual intake for the 350Z (07-08). They said at the time of the email that they had already developed the kit, (the Secret Weapon kit, as it's better than the Dragon kit) and would be going public with it in about 2 weeks.
Notice, I said that was almost a year ago... Nothing since. Don't believe their website is updated since then either. I'm not sure if the 350 Dual Intake kit will work with the 370, haven't bothered to try it.

The Secret Weapon intake I had on my tC (don't hate) made a great sound, now it was a short ram intake, but still any improvement on a tC we have to admit is a plus. Never got to dyno it, but it did sound sick, and looked interesting enough...

this could be just my opinion, but i think weapon r stuff is like scraping the bottom of the performance bin. i would rather stay stock than throw it on my z. but then again, the company could have changed over the years
EDIT: someone please chime in if they know of anyone running this setup

Great for gencoupes and scions. Not for the Z. Honestly, the best cheap intake mod for the Z is the intake hoses by either Mishimoto, HPS or Z1 motorsports with the intake filter of your choice. I chose K&N. The intake hose provides much cooler air to the engine than a cai because the silicone TRUELY blocks heat unlike most intakes aluminum or stainless tubes. The aftermarket filter provides freer air flow so you get true gains of 9-14hp, not like CAI's that drop 4-10hp and some torque before re-enteriing with a boost of 20+hp at 5600rpm. If you start with the exhaust and not the intake. You will find the final assembly of your intake exhaust will net the same power gains as other more expensive cai/exhaust setups that started with expensive intakes instead of vice versa. If you haven't put an exhaust yet? I would do the exhaust as a source of primary power gains before putting on an intake setup. And by using those hose setup, you have $325 to put toward a good exhaust like Fast intentions, Stillen, GT Haus, AAM etc. |

Thank you everyone for helping me out, I much appreciate everyone's opinions and inputs. I've ordered a Stillen Dual Exhaust for a start since it was about $1,300. but this is my first aftermarket part for my 2009 370z aside from the sports package. I am going to load pictures of parts and installation when I get them in and hopefully by then i'll have an intake being sent in to add on.
Thanks everyone a lot, I'm glad I avoided the Dragons. lol |
