Review MOTORDYNE SHOCKWAVE E370

:stirthepot:WARNING!!! Pics and sound clips will be awesome!!!

here we go....

Z Is stock except for the exhaust.

I wanted an exhaust that will bring out the best out of my Z. I ended going with this exhaust after hearing the great exhaust that they have built over the past. one in particular were the Shockwave for the g35's :happydance:. I heard a few clips and i did not want any drone. I will dyno later but i know i will get good numbers.
OK enough chitchat! When I first receive the exhaust It was well packed and no damage at all. the welds done on the exhaust were great! Motordyne packed the exhaust very well! the tips are interchange able and you can adjust them any way you want. All claps and bolts were included the only thing that was a problem was that the bolts  where the pipe connects to the catalic converters were to long but they are just bolts! all good after that

some goodies that Tony sent! :tiphat: thank you Tony!

4.5 inch stainless steel tips were included also! as you can tell they made sure not to leave anything that a noob like me would not forget. :bowrofl:

 there was a little problem with the passenger pipe hitting a metal cover. the installer decide to make a few adjustments to the bracket holding that side.all good after that :happydance:

Nissan 370z MOTORDYNE SHOCKWAVE E370 exhaust - YouTube

I love the sound once i took it out of the shop! I was like wow  that's my Z making that lovely sound! Of course i had to drive like a fool lol but i loved it! :driving:
At low rpms the exhaust is quite but once you push it past 3k the best comes out! I'm very pleased! This exhaust was what I was hoping for and it did not disappoint! Motordyne has a great customer service and picks up my when I call. they answer all of the questions that I had before purchasing the E370. I was probably the one who was waiting the longest for this and first one to reserve it. I'm glad I waited!

Thank you Tony and everyone that worked on the SHOCKWAVE E370 at Motordyne! They made this exhaust possible! :tiphat:
I will be ordering ART pipes in the future!!!!

red6spd 02-22-2012 10:47 PM

KB2 02-22-2012 10:55 PM

Really? How does that work? I mean I know there is usually a little bit of play but not to the extent you went (not saying its ugly) Just curious.

docaam 02-22-2012 11:05 PM

Thats sounds and looks amazing

MaDMaXX 02-22-2012 11:08 PM

The tips are adjustable with screws/bolts, they can be pushed in further so they don't stick out the back.

Hmm, thats a good idea.

ZMan8 02-22-2012 11:10 PM

Oh its cool dude I don't take it like that. There are three crews that you tightened to adjust the length of the tips. Its very easy you can change the in like 2 mins. Ill post pics tomorrow to better explain it.

Up, Down, Left, Right, In or Out. The tips are fully adjustable and you can set them any way you like.
They can be moved in underneath the bumper or pulled out a little or pulled out a lot.

Set them to suit your taste.

This much freedom of tip adjust-ability can be even more helpful when certain body kits are used. Sometimes a body kit needs the ability to bring the tips out alot. The Motordyne Shockwave))) E370 exhaust tips can match up to any bumper. Vertical adjustment is included with the 5" tips to accommodate even more tip looks and adjustability.

Juruki 02-23-2012 10:28 AM

from some of the pictures i can see ground clearance is good.
Where are the lowest parts of the exhaust? Are the exhaust pipes the lowest parts of the car in some places?
car and exhaust looks good btw!

edub370 02-23-2012 10:38 AM

i believe the metal piece you were running into is the same one everyone ends up hitting and removing

Juruki 02-23-2012 10:43 AM

^^ what metal piece? I scrape my exhaust pipes

Excellent question.

The lowest point of the exhaust is exactly under the rear axle where you can only bottom out so much before the suspension hits the stops and all other remaining clearance is determined by the fixed wheel diameter.

If the lowest point of the exhaust is anywhere fore or aft of the rear axle that low point quickly becomes more vulnerable to scraping. There would be a loss of clearance by extrapolating that same low point to other parts of the car while going over a speed bump for example. So that is exactly what we didn't do.

When ground clearance is an important issue, put the lowest point directly under the rear axle and then make it as high as possible. And that's exactly what we did with the Shockwave))).:tiphat:

Well, I dont know about that. First off exhaust systems are expensive people are not just gonna switch out each time a new product comes out LOL. And honestly what makes this exhaust so much better then any of the other leading exhaust on the market now? Motordyne makes some cool stuff but I love my FI and will never give it up.

 are there any dynos at all even?? I'd say it's way to early to state anything like that.

Here is the pic I promise. The pipes at the end are the lowest point as you can see I didn't measure properly but from the ground it looks to me that its 4.25 inches from the ground.

Maybe in a few months people will be saying "FI makes some cool stuff but I'll never give up my motordyne." It seems that this exhaust has the same potential to become just as popular as FI.

And I'm sure it will from all the good talk I hear about Motordyne, but to say people will be swapping there old exhaust for this one is just silly unless the thing makes 70hp lol?

Juruki 02-24-2012 10:52 AM

thanks for all the info! i already know the Shockwave is gonna be my next exhaust
now, who wants to buy my beat up TopSpeed exhaust? lol
