I really want to hear how this thing sounds.

Ztoon 03-06-2012 09:22 PM

Looks amazing. Stick a GoPro on that bad boy!

zguynate 03-24-2012 03:57 PM

Bump for op. I want a video.

98intrigue 03-24-2012 09:43 PM

I hate that I never got a video of mine...so please post a video :)

ChipsWithDips 03-26-2012 04:15 PM

Nice work OP. This is exactly the sort of thing I'm thinking for my car.

Just ordered an ebay y-pipe myself (pretty sure it's same as "surewin" that you have, although none on ebay are called that anymore). Was there much cleanup to do on the merge collector?

I would love to hear a video too.

TypeOne 03-28-2012 01:31 PM

I drove the Z to work today for the specific reason of recording a sound clip. It will be with my iPhone 4 because apparently my GroPro grew legs and walked out on me.

I'll have it loaded up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay guys.

TypeOne 03-29-2012 10:21 AM

Video now on page 1

Juruki 03-29-2012 10:32 AM

KaienZ34 03-29-2012 10:37 AM

Sounds good, now when can i come over for a ride along??

TypeOne 03-29-2012 11:07 AM

Looks like I'm putting Paul's FI on this coming Tuesday, come then.

'10Anamoly 03-29-2012 11:12 AM

Dude, you should run it through the area where the rear fog light goes. Veyron style!

http://image.motortrend.com/f/946907...haust_tips.jpg

Then just find someone to glass both in to cover the holes.

TypeOne 03-29-2012 11:22 AM

It's going to be a little difficult to do that when my new aero comes in. ;-)

Kingbaby 03-29-2012 12:31 PM

sounds great man!

TypeOne 03-29-2012 01:01 PM

It sounds better now that the muffler and resonator have had time to wear in. It got a bit quieter and deeper since I have put it on. I love how gurgley is it. lol

ChipsWithDips 03-29-2012 05:53 PM

Video sounds very nice! Is this still with stock headers/cats?

Edit: I just read through again and saw that you said you have Berk HFCs.

TypeOne 03-30-2012 09:04 AM

Stock headers for now... I'd really like to get a set of long tubes!

KaienZ34 03-30-2012 09:14 AM

They had a set in the for sale section a while back. :stirthepot:

Staples 03-30-2012 09:50 AM

Absolutely no rasp whatsoever, sounds great! You should get a couple flyby videos to give a good idea on how loud it is at WOT.

Thanks for the rev video though. :tiphat:

Yea, I will. I raised my car up last night, so it doesn't scrape on everything anymore. Time to get ready for the track days this year...!

TypeOne 03-30-2012 01:44 PM

As soon as Nola motorsports opens their days up for non members I will try and plan it out. Last track day was like $300 for the day! lol too muchhhhh.

Damn....... that's way pricey.

blacknismoZ 06-04-2012 12:39 AM

@Typeone what is the total weight of your new setup?

What I used:

Buddy Club Pro Spec 3" universal muffler in brushed stainless
Vibrant 3" stainless quiet high flow resonator
Surewin stainless Y pipe (with ported and smoothed merge)
(3) Vibrant Stainless 2 bolt flanges w/ 2 gaskets

I bought 5ft of 3 inch stainless tubing, 1 90*, 1 45* and 1 *180. I used maybe 1 ft of the straight, the 45* and part of the 90*.

First I started by removing my Stillen CBE and putting it on the scale.

75lbs for this monster! It weighs a ton! :ugh2:

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Z/da0494ab.jpg

I don't have many pictures of the progress but my buddy took a few pics of us working.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Z/41af6ea8.jpg

The hardest part was making the bend around the sway bar and under brace... because of the 3 inch pipe, it does hang a little low.

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Z/7311a82f.jpg

My buddy and I TIG welding up the resonator...
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Z/8ad67143.jpg

Everything pretty much done, except for the hangers and final welding.
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...Z/c770ceb8.jpg

All finished!

It sounds amazing. It is loud... compared to the quiet Stillen. But, it weighs in at 35lbs said and done. Which saves about 40lbs from the Stillen... or even stock setups. I love the way it looks and couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

I'll have a sound clip coming soon.. I have to charge up the Go Pro!

Thanks for looking!

Sounds clip. Sorry for the shaky video.
