Test pipe info
I was wondering, I see they sell test pipes for our cars, that bolt in! I like that. There have to be o2 sensors behind the cats, correct? And if so do they sell hookups to fake the sensors into thinking the cats are there?
Also, kinda off topic, why is it when I try to do a search, say in this case "test pipes" I get all kinds of non related threads? This always happens in this Z search engine. What am I doing wrong? :/ Grazie!!

1. The Test Pipes usually have extended bungs the o2 sensors bolt onto, to help keep the gasses away from the sensor. This plus putting some steel wool inside the bung before the sensor helps keep the CEL off.
2. Because you need to set the search to look for 'Test Pipes' in "Thread Titles" not in an overall search.

So I would bolt the sensors into the test pipe outlets, and steel wool is enough of a buffer/filter, that the sensor readings are gonna be seen by the computer as if the exhaust gasses had passed through cats? That sounds too easy. I would think you would need an electronic part in that loop for accurate readings to the CPU.

If you get test pipes just get it tuned (assuming you have a CBE and intake) that will make the CEL go away permantly and give you more power. If you have said mods you should have a tune anyway.

Being completely new how is a tune done exactly on these cars. So the ECM is programmable or is there something I need to add? I plan on doing an intake and exhaust with HFCs. Thanks for any info. First post BTW...

The tune is done by simply re-flashing the ECU. Everyone uses a product called UpRev, look it up. Oh and welcome to the forum
