Default Inexpensive CAI Question

I hear a lot of chatter about name brands, K&N, Stillen, etc. and money being no object, I would definitely go that route. However, I just dropped north of 30g's for this car and now disposable income for mods and such is nearly non-existent. There are some CAIs that I see on EBay for $149.00, one in powder coated red that really looks nice. Everyone knows the saying "you get what you pay for", but a CAI kit Just looks like a couple tubes and some filters (which could likely be replaced by higher quality filters later). Has anyone had any experience with these inexpensive parts? Is there any reason, other than that they are of a lesser quality, that I shouldn't try them out? Could this cause any damage to the car?

Stay away from everything on Ebay.

If you want to go cheap, get Z1 post-maf tubes and K&N drop-in filters. You'll get better performance with this than you would with some of that Ebay junk.

I just saw pics of the Z1 post MAF hoses by Happytheman on another thread. Looks nice. The more I think about it, the more likely I am to save for quality parts. It's no cheap ride, after all.
Thanks for the feedback, guys!

The Z1's are more expensive. I have the Mishimoto post maf hoses with K&N's and they cost a lot less than the Z1's. They fit just fine. I got mine from Jomer at FBNISSAN here on the forums for a great price.

The whole CAI to me just isnt worth the 450-500 bucks it costs for a few extra hp and sound.

/\ good advice.

Remember, the stock intakes system is a CAI that draws air from right behind the front bumper into a nicely sealed system. Smooth out the airflow (PMTs) and add a high flow filter (k&n or other type) and you'll be gtg.

Top of the line CAI is stilllen G3 but compared to /\ it really only beats it out above 7K rpm and then by only a few whp.
