Installed CAI from K&N and not happy, what gives

ok, so I installed the K&N Typhoon 69 Series CAI and the reviews of it said it would be louder than what I have. Well, I can't tell a freaking difference. Perhaps I've gained in HP, but certainly not in sound.

I know next most logical step is probably the exhuast, but man o man, I already spent $350+ on this thing..

anyone else have the same problem I have? any solutions? other than getting a whole new exhuast?

Not to be a prick, ( i have the K&N intake) bt if you wanted a louder exhaust note you probably shouldve gotten a louder exhaust. My K&N didnt change my exhast note at all but it increase the volume of my intake (meaning I can hear he intakes sucking in air now)

no, you not being prick.. appreciate any input on this.. I was advised it would increase the sound though.. and I've had a CAI on a previous vehicle, and it did help.. I suspect a new exhaust will be my next purchase then.. Now to decide which.

thanks for replying

I cant speak for the k&n, but when I only had the stillen gen 3 CAI it was extremely noticeable and sounded much better. Once you get exhaust it starts to overpower the intake sound and you hear that primarily.

i think you need an exhaust and HFC to get any change in sound with this, I have it and I noticed it more with the FI CBE installed as it opened things up more. It wasn't very noticible though.

I have changed CAI in other vehicles and noticed a great deal of change in sound from the air intake, but since I added K&N typhoons, HFC's and CBE all at the same time, I notice just the exhaust. And what a difference it makes. Like everyone else says, change your exhaust and you will notice the change.

Man the bigger concern here is your hearing. You might have an abundance of wax build up. The first thing I noticed when I installed my typhoon was the very noticable increase is sound it made. Sounds bad as heII

i have the aem intake and noticed a noticeable difference in sound. Also i think the injen intakes sound pretty nice.

You should hear a beefier sound around mid-range coming from the intake. My Injens sounded really nice once you got to around 4k. When I added my FI CBE I couldn't hear them anymore which was a little upsetting.

Remember that intake and exhaust noise are two different things. An intake kit is not going to make your exhaust louder.;)

If you're on a budget as far as making your car louder, you can do a muffler delete. You can also get a cheap axle back, like AAM Short Tail.. or a very affordable catback exhaust system, CNT Exhaust. There are plenty of options.. just find one that is suited for you.

On a side note.. I had Injen on my old 09 Z and the sound above 4k RPM was addicting.
