AEM does, others neck down, the ones that do not require tuning. I also checked my IAT's when driving. Even with my AEM's tucked behind the sides of the bumper, the second the car starts rolling, IAT's drop to within 20 degrees of ambient.
go to AEM's website and look up their 370Z CAI's. They have good info on how they are working around the MAF issue and their gains. The Nismo version makes about 20whp according to their testing. The regular version was 10, but tested in 3rd gear. They supposedly made small changes between the two kits and the Nismo version works on the base version just fine. I had two seperate dyno tests 9 months apart on two different dyno's and the AEM's are still working like a charm... along with my other mods. It's in my build thread if you want to see my review and dyno. My latest December and January dyno's are later in the thread It's also in my profile images and labeled. Hope this helps.

They only make sense for the ppl that already spent the $400 plus, for something that already comes stock on their car.
If you want to change the intake then just get a couple K/N aircleaners. But your better off to just keep the stock paper filters and replace them at least once a year. Once an airfilter is dirty you can never get it really as clean as a new one, due to the fact that your dealing with a used dirty air filter that you rinse out in some solvent , blow out with compressed air and then oil it again. Its like reusing injection needles or your old lady reusing her tampoons. Its better off to stick with a brand new quality paper filter, cheaper and you know its clean. |

Exhausts come stock on cars, they generally suck, so we replace them. Likewise the intakes...

Not all cars come stock with factory installed cold air intakes, as the the 370Z does stock. Post some dyno results of 370z 's that have only had there stock CAI replaced with after market ones, most hp results are very minimal. Sure if you put some big after market CAI on the car and then put on a good set of headers, large pipes and free flowing muffers and also eliminate the CATS and spend about $2500 and $500 on remapping , you will see some gains, but not from just simply putting on CAI by itself. |

Below is a link to AEM's news article on the Nismo 370Z intakes. 2009, 2010 & 2011 Nissan 370Z Nismo 3.7L Get Power with AEM Electronically Tuned Air Intake System If you don't like them, then dont buy them, don't spread BS that they can only gain hp if you have other breather mods. It's untrue.

I dont have a before and after but here is my result with just Stillen G3 CAI's
The 370z was the only car that my butt actually felt a power difference with intakes. No other car did i feel any difference. So it defently does make more power compaired to stock.

Comparing your dyno chart to a stock 370z listed below, it looks like the after market CAI returns, had less power than the stock dyno run listed below.
Google Image Result for http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/justoneofmyhoes/NewStock370ZDynoBaseline.jpg The point I was trying to make was, that if your only going to put on the aftermarket CAI , your HP returns will be only marginal and may be even less than stock , if the car hasn't been remapped or tuned properly. You also need to buy the best complete racing or street legal exhaust to fully achieve significant gains with the aftermarket CAI systems. I would agree that the atermarket CAI would be very helpfull how a car that didn't come stock with a factory CAI , like a pick up truck etc. But on the cars that have factory installed CAI returns, then the gains are only marginal. crap, we're bringing this thread back again...listen, no one should care what one individual has to say about a mod, in the end it's his opinion and no one is going to change his mind no matter what type of proof you supply and honestly it shouldnt really matter what one person says cause we all end up doing what we think works best for ourselves and our own car. now please for the love of baby jesus just lock this thread cause its like beating a dead horse at this point lol

intakes, to buy or not to buy?
OK found an amazing deal on some short ram intakes.
I kind of want to buy them for ***** and giggles even though I'm going to supercharge my Z Should I buy them or not it would be for pure sound and not the gains(assuming I do gain anything) Also note these intakes are so cheap, if I sold them after buying them, I would probably make my money back. Opinions? |

You'd be going from a cold air intake to a hot air intake. The K&N dyno numbers are suspect (idk what intakes you're looking at). Total waste IMO. Some Afe filters and silicone tubes would be way better, give you the sound you're looking for and are easy to sell when you're done.

the R2C has good sealing inside the engine bay and was pretty much the same when compared to factory intake (CAI) as far as IAT.
but you're right, i currently use post-maf tubes and k&n drop-ins and called it a day. i dont like the noise short rams make. |
