SES After Rainstorm (Injen)
Drove my car last night to the local DIY car wash (just to use the rinse, don't flame me) and the car ran fine. It rained heavily overnight and into this morning. Car started fine but when I pulled off my street it immediately bogged at 2500rpm and set an SES light, VDC light, and skid light... I am almost 100% positive it is a MAF error due to the moisture on the filters. I turned around and parked the Z and took my daily car instead. Question is for those that had this happen how did you resolve?
Should I just let it dry? Pull the battery? Clear the code? I don't have a reader (or at least I can't find the one I had) so I'd have to go buy one. Will it reset if it sits for a day or two? I usually garage it but I didn't last nice, hence the excessive moisture. |

I'd let it dry, pull the MAF's and just visual inspect them, and then disconeect the battery for 10 mins. That should reset the SES light. Then go from there.

You are not to first to experience water issues with Injen intakes. What Spohn said has worked well for others with similar experiences, but it won't stop it from happening again.

same issue with me and a rainstorm.... just let the filters dry overnight and you'll be fine. just happens to be the lack of planning by injen to have the filters pointing sraight down in an area that water pools when draines from the hood

I had something similar happen to me this past Monday with my Stillen Gen 3s. Car was parked in heavy rain for 8 hrs. When I started the car, I noticed the engine was unusually louder, and immediately my SES light came on. I took it easy on the drive home. Next morning, the SES light was still on and noticed my idle RPM was at 1K. Then a little over 4 hrs on my lunch break I started the car and SES light was still on. My idle RPMs dropped to normal 750 but then immediately went to 1K. Drove for a mile to get some food. Went back to the car and started it. SES light gone, idle RPMs at 750.
Didn't have a chance to check the SES, seems like wet filters?

Most likely... the SES and idle issue persist until you reset the code or cycle the ECU a few times... I wouldn't worry. This actually happens from time to time on my Mazda too when it needs the MAF sensor cleaned/dried.
