HFC or not HFC? That's my question
I am installing CAI (HAI K&N Typhoon) and CBE ARK Performance.
What are the advantages vs. disadvantages of the HFC? Why is one better than the other? Emission code issues??? I'm trying to get a better quality of sound more than power, but I will certainly take the HP and torque gains:happydance:. |
the HFC's you will purchase will be far less restrictive then the standard units free'ing up more exhaust and allowing more flow.
I myself have installed a CBE and have HFC's waiting to go in, just need a good day to install them, for me there is still quite a restriction from about 5500-6000ish RPM till redline with the standard units (can literally hear it if you know what you are listening for). Hopefully the HFC's will free this up. for emission laws etc.. this vary's from country to country and state to state.. you can get the specs of the units from the companies who produce the HFC's. |
Ta mate!

advantages:
- ~10wrhp - meaner sounding exhaust disadvanteges: - poss fail emissions - too loud and hiss on decel - poss SES (CEL) light - possibly making current exhaust too loud. - demon bolt fun |
Decided to go with Berk HFC's. It just made sense to open the restriction at the CAT if you are adding freeer flowing exhaust. My previous projects were pre-emission 400-650 hp carburated SBC pro-street. This electronic stuff is all new to me.

After messing with carburetors on my bike, I'd much rather have the electronics ;) I'm assuming you'll do the install yourself? If so, read up on the "demon bolt" so you're prepared for it. Also, be careful with the O2 sensors. They're easily damaged if banged on/into. |

Do these mods require a computer reset or anything to update software? |
A tune for HFC is recommended - Uprev tune
If you happen to get a CEL it'll get rid of that too |
AWDTUNING is just a half hour drive for me. So I would be able to get Uprev run. I wasn't sure if it was needed, but it sounds like I would gain the most from my add-ons.
