Oh. Lol... Octet, "sub'd" is probably members saying they're subscribing to the thread, not seriously interested in the product. (I'm sure people are interested, but only if this thing makes MASSIVE gains)

octet 06-13-2014 09:30 AM

You're such a bitch, DE.50, LOL

Out of curiosity, and not to piss on everyone on the list, but does everyone know that this will likely be $1000-2000? And with no verified gains on an N/A car? (I believe the 1 forum member with the GTM kit on his car had no gains)

I am just subbed for results, not signed up for a group buy or anything.

I know, Octet's post made it seem as though you were signing up.

I prefer ásshole. And I just don't think peoples' expectations should be over-hyped before there is any evidence

brucelidat 06-13-2014 01:37 PM

i have no expectations, just curious to see what the results are

Haha gains!

It's a larger manifold!

We've learned with proper tuning more air can be turned into gains! Many tuners that have tuned z33/z34s are just messing with the fuel map!

If you didn't know that you have a lot to learn about the potential of a proper tune!

Because on average and I will say with 99.8 % confidence that a majority of tunes are just that!

So for the NA junkies a few ponies on top of a better looking aluminum manifold is a plus plus!

Then someone needs to make a z34-R decal! For the ricer in us all!

I waiting to see what the results are, was about to pull the trigger on Z1 VQ37VHR Intake Plenum Power Mod.

I realize this is more about aesthetics than it is power gains but just so everyone knows, Z1 sells a "ported" OEM intake. I don't know exactly what all is done to the intake but we have seen some gains (after tuning) on the race car with it. Bear in mind the race car goes to 8500rpm where the gains are the greatest. Long story short, if anyone is just looking for an extremely well flowing intake, there are other more cost effective ways. If you want gains and looks, which would be my choice, then this is probably the better way to go.

brucelidat 06-13-2014 05:45 PM

Does the z1 one have any better mid/low range gains than the motordyne m370? It's hard to tell from their graph, only noticeable part is some peak gains.

The problem is it isn't actually a larger manifold, the CSA of the gtr runner is smaller, the runner is longer, and with the new lower the air has to fight some hard transition angles now too, as well as some very short profile changes in the runner. the gtr runner is not a huge oval it is actually just a straight tube that is cross sectioned at an angle where the flange is. It is a manifold designed specifically for boost and I wouldn't be suprised if you actually see losses on an NA car. It is designed to increase low and midrange to spool turbo's quicker.

Link to the CSA flow test on both? Hard to believe that one...flipping a HR/VHR over, to show the underside shows the same design essentially.

Ill post up some specs later, the hr/vhr has large square ports the vr has cylindrical ones

Talking about the manifold not the head of course. Both heads have oval ports

I will believe that this is going to happen when I see one of the conversions installed. Otherwise my money is on CJM and Phunk's aluminum manifold project. I don't believe in ghosts and phantoms are cars..............
