not to derail this thread but from eyeballing it should fit a Z33 easily...
that's from using the oil filler cap as a reference?

I'm pretty sure it will fit the VQ35HR - if the lower intake manifold and the upper intake plenum is exchangeable between Z33 and Z34 it should be a no brainer !

Very nice especially how you cleared the oil cap. Did it change the engine sound in any way? That's pretty cool how you were able to keep the stock fuel rail.
Assuming my engine can stay in one piece after a tune to about 500 whp, I wouldn't mind making the switch. However, if I do that I'd love to get new spark plugs, injectors, EBC, 3" DP and exhaust, and a tune to at least 500 whp while keeping the block stock. What's holding me back is no more work on this car for at least another year due to priorities.

thank you guys for the positive feedback ! Tomorrow I will try to do a longer test drive for about 120km (~75miles) so the ECU is able to regain its learn tables.
After that I unfortunately have to make a break with this project for about a week as I'm flying to Egypt (diving the red sea) but I promise to put it on the dyno straight after my return in a good week. Please bear with me, the results are near and I'm at least as curious to see dyno numbers as you are. And promised I will post the outcome regardless of what it will be. If I keep stock power or even loose power (with NA) I probably have at least a (very expensive) engine bay styling upgrade and can claim to have the only 370Z with a GT-R manifold installed and actually working in the world But the hope is still alive and chances are not too bad it could work out - fingers crossed ! Just for your reference my last dyno results before the manifold project were 311HP to the wheels and 388NM / 286lbf/ft ! Modifications: 2.5" dual exhaust system, 300cpi race catalysts, stillen ss exhaust headers, stillen gen3 intake, NST pulleys, no tune ! Chris

Be sure to drive it HARD on your drive. Get yourself to the nearest Autobahn, in other words.
WOT through to redline in as many gears as you can stomach... let it cool down a little, (while driving) then repeat. Do that a half dozen times and park it til it cools back down to "cold". Then start it up and do it again. By then you'll be more or less fully learned. Supposedly helps if you clear learned data first (either with Osiris or by unplugging the battery for a while). |
