I have the AAM Short Tails-
Originally I just got them for my budget, but it turns out that I am in love with the exhuast. You'd be surprised what a muffler delete does to the car. It roars when you turn it on. Does have a drone noise from the exhaust, but i listen to music pretty loud so it doesnt bother me. & when I want to listen to the engine, I just turn off the speakers and I pretty much have a sound system right there. Ive seen videos on youtube for the TopSpeed & its not very loud. AAMs are very loud in person and everyone asks me what exhaust i have.. Highly recommend it for the price. |

Or maybe not everyone likes their car to be super loud? I know I don't.
OP- The AAM is louder for sure.

Short tails are going to be way louder.
I've had both and I prefer the sound of the Top Speed. I also recently got a Stillen cat back and honestly... I think the Top Speed sounds better. And it's WAY lighter too. The short tails are good for the sound, but they really don't do much power wise when you compare to a full cat back. It's really night and day. Last edited by TypeOne; 12-05-2011 at 05:49 PM. |

I just believe there is a difference between a great sound and just plain noise... aam's dont give this car a good tone, just make it loud

It's not that loud... It's a good volume... It's definitely not like getting straight pipes... That's just stupid loud.

I dont know what your talking about? The AAM short tails make the car sound amazing i have had to many compliments to count on how good they sound. There are 3 different Z's that live in my area with all different full exhausts and they all have said they like my sound better than theres. The sound is a growl that would put most v8s to shame. But i guess to each is there own. IMO they are the best purchase for the $ and with the burnt tips the looks are great to.

On Topic: Short tails are louder than every other exhaust on the market, because they aren't an exhaust, they're a muffler delete. If you want to know what they'll sound like, just go take your muffler off and start the car.
Off Topic: This thread is over a year old. Why did you find it necessary to dredge it up just to post this? Aside from the fact that no V6 puts a V8's noise to shame, ever, anecdotal BS like "there are 3 Zs in my area and 'people' tell me mines is the bestest" doesn't contribute to anything. Ugh. Quote:

$100 get a shop to bend the pipes, weld on flanges, and hook up some used 350Z tips. That's was I did, a quick and cheap short tails. Sounds awesome, and breaks the tires loose easy now.
