Default F.I cf 18in resonator vs Meisterschaft GTHaus

I want loud, I was in my buddy's Civic SI and he has the Skunk2 Megapower R 70mm full catback exhaust. I don't know if anyone have heard it in person but it is perfect in terms of loudness. It sounds amazing and its exactly what I'm looking for for the Z.

I'm not a fan of the look (prefer the HKS, burnt tips) but I love the sound of the GThaus exhaust and F.I. Now the question is, which of the 2 will be louder? (F.I CF + 18in resonator + CNT/ERZ HFC vs GThaus + midpipe +CNT/ERZ HFC) How does it compare to the Skunk 2? (Someone clocked 142db for it, so I'll be using that as a measuring stick)

This makes little sense. 142db? No, that's how loud a jet engine is less than 100' away. I ran my Z straight out of the headers and I seriously doubt it was up to 142db. No way is the FI with 18" resonators louder than the GT Haus. Maybe pretty close with the non resonated FI, which I have along with CNT/ERZ HFCs. If you want something really loud...I would go LTHs with straight pipes (muffler deletes)

Oh maybe it was sarcasm then. Loud isn't the only thing that I want though, it has to sound good too. Test pipes are illegal so I wouldn't want to take that risk.

Well I can say everyone says my setup is very loud and sounds awesome. I just prefer something louder. I'm looking for some FI test pipes or LTHs to hold me over until spring. If you want loud and for a good price go non resonated FI and do yourself a favor and don't cheap out on HFCs, get FI as well.

Or you could do the HFCs and run straight pipe from there...
( Click to show/hide )
if you want as loud as possible and emissions "legal" that would be as loud as you can get

If you are looking for something on the louder side go with our non resonated CBE with carbon fiber mufflers. If you wanted to go louder from there you would have to add our long tube headers to the equation. On the flip side I know you said completely removing a cat is not what you want to do.

That is what I can offer you. If you have any further questions or would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to call me directly...

Thank you, Tony

With the FI LTH's and 18" Res CBE w. Stainless Steel cans, on a track @ full speed, I only logged 93.8dB. (Measured @ 50ft. from track edge) I barely passed the 94dB limit for the track.

If you want volume either go with CF cans which will give you a different tone, or 12" resonators, or Non-Res if you hate your ears.

Obsessive volume is obtrusive and will mask the tone of the Z which is sex. Please don't...

I run Berk HFCs and a 12" resonated FI cat-back and find it is the perfect balance of volume, a deep aggressive tone with no rasp, and is fairly loud. Also, you don't realize how loud your exhaust really is until you stand outside and hear it at WOT.

The tradeoff to going straight pipe on the cat-back section is that you will gain rasp. GThaus also has some rasp from what I could tell.

This is not always the case. Our straight through CBE with high flow cats or test pipes has no rasp. We only notice a little with this configuration and our long tube headers.

Now he stated in the first post that he wants to leave the aftermarket cats on the car. Those combined with our straight through CBE will have zero rasp.

I just purchased the GThaus mid pipe and rear section, and man this thing sounds like an F1 car!!! I havn't heard a lot of different exhaust's on our car, but this one is ridiculous!! I also dont have any rasp, I am running stillen headers, stock cats, tanabe Y pipe, and the rest GThaus. This this sounds WICKED!! and its only loud when you want it to be. Normal driving you wont even hear it, if you ease in to the throttle, but once you get around and above 3K RPM, it really screams!

Man I should probably do this forum a favor and end the loudness debate by posting my exhaust clips. Let me put it this way, GTHaus + FI Long tube headers is the perfect marriage. You will not find anything louder. More importantly the car can actually be driven under normal circumstances meaning you are not a police attention liability. However, it is EXTREMELY LOUD outside the car, and inside as well but the full bore of it is heard outside. The one time I had my buddy drive my car and pass me redlining 2nd I realized, dude people will have to cover their ears, this thing wakes up babies in the quietest of cabins.
