The first few days was pretty nerve racking lol. I didn't want to leave the car alone anywhere but you break away from the feeling eventually. It was a little easier for me since I bought used and it already had some chips in it.

yes they do... I don't know that for NA Z's there is much more power to be gained. Perhaps eventually with some cams and tuning, but even then we're probably only talking 20 or so HP. Don't get me wrong.. if I had a car capable of running a 12.5, i'm perfectly ok with that ... I don't go to the strip, nor do I really care to... I just wanted the same sort of pep my old Evo X had.

Some of these bolt-on Zs are running mid-12s no problem. Not too long ago a 500HP BMW M5 and M6 did that with a V10 motor. I'm looking forward to having a nice set of cams on the market, in addition to the VVEL crack.

I'm going to get an intake of some sort and probably go with the 3.90 something gears instead of the 4.08... I think that would be enough to put me where I want to be.

No one is trying to crack the VVEL system, GTM & Uprev gave up

VVEL doesn't need to be cracked, massive gains have been seen without doing so. A key difference between the GTR plenum and the Motordyne is that the GTR setup requires a new upper and lower manifold. We'll see how it goes.

it was subtle, I think its in one of GTM's product release threads. Apparently the labor and time required to crack VVEL outweigh the gains. Given the right hardware and tuning the stock ecu goes a long way, at least that's what I've heard.

The answer to VVEL is:
-GTM stopped R&D -Uprev has torn down a complete VVEL block recently and has software which they say can adjust it but are still working on clearances and what exactly it takes to 'tune' VVEL and what it can do.

Yeah, our ECUs are surprisingly flexible. You couldn't get much out of a VQ35DE, for example. It certainly felt better than stock, but the 370Z feels like a new car.
