Not meaning to bring up any sore subjects or repeat a thread that I can't find. If my question is redundant, please excuse me, I'm just getting used to the forum and at my ripe old age it gets harder and harder to absorb!
I've seen on e-bay and some other areas different exhausts. I'd love to be able to afford the HKS but it's just too much. I have seen copy cat systems and was wondering if anyone has any experience with a Mirage system. I can not find anything in the forum nor on You Tube, I really don't want to make a mistake so your help would be greatly appreciated. |

I would avoid ebay brands and stick to known quality systems.
If you are trying to save money the Invidia systems are not expensive and seem to be pretty well built.

listing number
Here is the e-bay listing number: 110646769457. I searched under 370Z Exhaust. I realize that if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't, I was just hoping that some one out there knew more about it than I. Thanks for the input.

what type of price point are you wanting to stay with? I ended up pony-ing up and buying the HKS after trying to find a cheaper solution.

I've installed, heard, bought, sold, etc all different types of exhausts and generally with eBay stuff you're going to get lousy fitment and the resonators (if it even has them) and mufflers are going to need replacement MUCH faster than a higher quality system. There are exceptions, but I'm not aware of any for the Z34.
One way to save money would be to buy just mufflers and have a shop fab you up some piping. If you can find a good price on labor, you'll save a bit of cash. I did this on 2 of my cars, and was very happy with the results but I had access to tube benders, welding equipment, a lift, and a friend that knew how to weld pretty good. Here's a few mufflers: HKS Mufflers Your next best bet would probably be picking up a used exhaust from a reputable member on the forums.

Thanks for the various inputs. The long and short is I should follow initial impression and stay away from "too good to be true". I appreciate all the advice and look forward to hopefully being able to help others like you did me.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I researched for 2 months, listened to multiple sound clips and finally decided on the one that appealed to me most. Looked at a couple things: look, sound, quality, manufacturer reputation, previous experience with manufactures and lastly price. I'm willing to pay more for a quality product that I know has been researched and designed for its intended purpose. Good luck on your search, this forum contains a multitude of information and plenty of members willing to help you out.
