I would go with the K&N's plus tubes. Less heat soak, and should be equivalent gains for less money.

afaik, no one with a Z had dynoed before/after with the R2Cs, there's a plenty of dynos with PMTs and drop ins that show decent results.

I actually saw a dyno for a set of R2C's, but it was for a G37. I believe it was 14 whp and 7 tq. I know that quality wise that they are likely one of the best and the company has an excellent reputation for making a great product when it comes to intakes. As said though... as an SRI, typically heat soak is the biggest issue.

Besides a different type of filter what is different between the r2c and the kn typhoon? They look identical. Plus even with a long tube set up wouldnt the engine compartment tubes get heat soaked just like the short ram intakes? Yes the long tubes bring in cold air but the short rams breath the same air as the stock boxes do. On the dyno with a small fan I noticed alot of outside air being pushed through the stock intake inlets. To the op in my opinion I would go with the r2c just for better tubing, filters, and the heat shields

as far as what I have seen in pics the R2C vs. Typhoon, the R2C's seem to turn down a bit toward where most of the air comes into the front of the car. The tubes look like they might be a bit longer... though I cannot say for sure.

The tubes do get heat soaked, but the open filters on an SRI like the 2 mentioned above also get heat soaked and are not getting a steady supply of colder outside air.

OP, the stock set-up is very efficient and most go with the Stillen G3's which is close to the same price of the R2C's, but more work to install and change/clean filters. Best bang for the buck is the drop ins and tubes... overall biggest amount of power is going to be the G3's.

r2C prob has the best filters in the industry (dry)....thier piping is OK....they dont offer the square design for the 370Z unfortunatly....thats why i went with drop ins and HPS post mafs

if you click on the picture, this is the system for a 350Z...the tube actually has a square design all the way through... from my exp the square piping had a really nice sound to it, was a heat dispersing plastic, the inside of the tube was coated with something, IDK but the design was optimal for smoothing airflow

yeah I see that... interesting. Honestly... if someone dyno'd these and they had pretty good gains like 12 or more hp to the wheels on a 370, i'd buy them right now. Right now though, Stillen is king and will likely be until Motordyne releases their intake which will be a good while i'm guessing.

A shame it probably won't be for a while... i'm sure Tony has his hands full with the exhausts getting ready to come out... testing, dynos... waiting for dynos from other users, etc etc.
